She reached for Holden's blood bag, unplugging the IV needle. Watching his face drain of color, she covertly injected an unknown substance into the line before hitting the call button.

Doctors and nurses rushed into the room. Holden's face had turned a terrifying shade of blue; his condition was critical.

Sienna collapsed onto the floor, burying her face in her hands as she burst into agonizing sobs.

"What's wrong with my son? It was just a simple blood transfusion! How could this happen?"

The doctors had never seen a reaction like this. They immediately instructed the nurses to transfer Holden to the ICU.

Sienna followed closely behind. Seeing a swarm of specialists gather outside the monitoring room, she angrily grabbed the arm of a passing nurse.

"Why is my son like this? You promised me he would be fine after the transfusion!"

The nurse looked panicked. "Mrs. Thorne, please calm down. We are doing everything we can. For some unknown reason, little Holden has developed a severe blood infection. We're treating it right now."

Sienna tightened her grip on the nurse, her eyes filled with ruthless disbelief.

"A blood infection? You explicitly told me there were no issues and that the blood bank was fully stocked. Why would there be an infection? Is this blood from some shady source? My son is a living, breathing human being. Are you trying to murder him?"

The young nurse, entirely unequipped for such a vicious confrontation, was terrified.

"Mrs. Thorne, it has nothing to do with me! The doctors are doing everything they can to save him. Please, just wait patiently."

Tearing herself away, the nurse fled down the hall.

Through her tears, Sienna pulled out her phone and dialed Hayden's number.

It rang for what felt like an eternity before Hayden's cold, detached voice came through the speaker.

"How is Holden?"

Hayden was confident in the medical arrangements he had made; he fully believed Holden would be fine.

Sienna wept uncontrollably into the receiver. "Hayden, something terrible happened. He's in the ICU. The doctors say he has a blood infection, and he might..." She choked on her own sobs, barely able to string a sentence together.

"He might what?" Hayden's predatory gaze turned somber, his sharp features hardening instantly.
