I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 79

Nadia awkwardly scrambled to her feet, brushing the dirt off her clothes.

In reality, she had tried calling Zoe all morning, and when it wouldn't go through, she got worried and came over.

Luckily, Hayden just shot her a disdainful look before striding away toward the gates.

Nadia exhaled deeply. When Mrs. Gable spotted her, the housekeeper nearly jumped.

She had no idea where Nadia had popped out from.

It was well known that five years ago, both the mister and the missus had banned Nadia from setting foot in Blackwood Manor.

Since Hayden hadn't said anything, Mrs. Gable merely pointed upstairs, signaling that Zoe was in her bedroom.

When Nadia barged through the door, Zoe was right in the middle of changing.

Her entire back was covered in blazing marks of passion.

Hearing the rustling, Zoe thought Hayden had come back. Panicking, she threw her shirt on to cover herself, only to spin around and face a furious Nadia.

"Zoe!"

Nadia looked incredibly disappointed, radiating pure frustration.

Zoe froze, staring blankly back at her.

"You've really been going at it for days now, haven't you? Looks like you're having a grand old time."

Nadia sneered. She had literally risked breaking her legs to sneak in here.

And had actually gotten caught by Hayden in the process.

Yet here was Zoe, happily rolling around with Hayden without a care in the world.

It completely explained why that bastard Hayden hadn't made a move against her yet.

If this had been five years ago, she would have been dead meat by now.

"Nadia, what are you doing here?"

Remembering that every inch of her skin was currently unfit for public viewing, Zoe furiously yanked her clothes the rest of the way on.

Nadia plopped down onto the couch, crossing her arms and shooting her a vicious glare.

"I was worried about you! What the hell happened to your body? Do you need me to call the cops?"

Having seen the alarming bruises decorating Zoe's skin...

Was she a victim of abuse?

"No!"

Did she visit a ghost just last week?

A fiery rage sparked in Nadia's eyes. "Did Hayden tell you that?"

She knew that bastard was no good.

Zoe shook her head. "No."

She stared at Nadia in pure shock. "She's not dead?"

Nadia slammed her teacup down and let out a sigh. "I guess you really do have amnesia. Your grandma is perfectly fine. She's staying in a top-tier nursing facility, and I visit her for you every single week."

"Let me guess, your dear uncle Philip told you she died? Honestly, there isn't a single decent person left in your family."

Zoe was completely floored.

But the person she trusted most in the entire world was Nadia.

She wouldn't just slander her uncle for no reason.

"Though part of this is your fault. The second you married Hayden, you cut ties with everyone. I honestly thought he was keeping you prisoner. But when I finally tracked you down, you chased me off yourself."

Zoe stared back in horror.

She couldn't believe that over the past five years, she had turned into the cold, heartless woman Nadia was describing.
