Why?
Was all of this really just for Hayden?
Nadia leaned in closer to Zoe.
"Didn't you say you wanted to divorce Hayden? If you're serious, I'll help you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, heavy footsteps echoed from the stairs.
Both Zoe and Nadia nearly jumped out of their skins.
Asher's imposing figure slowly came into view, with Hayden trailing closely behind him.
Two massive, six-foot-two men suddenly filled Zoe's bedroom.
The hyper-masculine energy completely overwhelmed the feminine space, making the room feel instantly claustrophobic.
"We're leaving."
The moment Nadia saw Asher, all her previous bravado vanished.
She shot Hayden a venomous glare.
No wonder that bastard had left without a single snarky comment earlier. He was busy snitching to Asher.
Defeated, Nadia stood up. In front of Asher, she was as docile as a lamb.
It was a stark contrast to the sharp, ruthless attorney she was in the courtroom.
"My apologies, Mr. Thorne. I failed to keep her in line. She won't intrude again," Asher said flatly.
When Asher grabbed her hand, Nadia didn't even have the courage to look up.
Hayden nodded.
"I'd highly prefer this to be the last time."
Nadia tried to shoot Zoe a quick look, but Hayden's broad frame purposefully blocked her line of sight.
It was Zoe's first time meeting Asher. Despite his intimidating aura mirroring Hayden's, she boldly stepped up to defend her friend.
"You can't just drag her away like that."
Asher let out a cold scoff.
"Don't tell me you forgot about what happened five years ago. Haven't you ruined enough lives already?"
While Zoe was still processing the stinging words, Nadia was practically carried off.
The sound of a car engine flared to life downstairs.
And swiftly sped away.
Hayden leaned against the doorframe, his towering figure casting a heavy shadow over Zoe.
As he exhaled, the heavy smoke partially concealed his features, making him look dangerously alluring.
Perhaps it was the sudden heat in the room, but Hayden yanked his tie loose, leaving it hanging lazily around his neck. He unbuttoned the top of his shirt, exposing the solid cut of his chest.
When his hand moved to his belt buckle, Zoe jumped, scrambling backwards as she spoke.
"W-what are you doing?"
Hayden stood up, taking one last drag before flicking the cigarette perfectly into the trash can.
He exhaled a long breath of smoke as he slowly pulled the leather belt completely off his waist.
Zoe couldn't even bear to look at him.
His dark eyes were clouded over, swimming with raw, unbridled hunger.
It was a look of absolute, peaking sexual desire.
Zoe swallowed hard, her back hitting the wall. She had nowhere left to run.
Hayden let out a dark chuckle, slamming his hand against the wall right beside her head until their noses were practically touching.
His voice was thick with raw gravel.
He used the tip of his leather belt to tilt her chin up.
"So, tell me, Mrs. Thorne. What exactly did I do that makes you want to get rid of me, hmm?"
