I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 82

"Asher, we live in a society governed by laws. I'm not afraid of Hayden. I'm a lawyer now. What could he possibly do to me? I can always sue him."

Asher slowed the car, completely unfazed by Nadia's words.

"If you want to be a lawyer and fight lawsuits, stick to playing around with a few simple cases. Don't go provoking Hayden and his wife."

Nadia was defiant. "Are you scared of him, Asher?"

Asher pulled the car to a stop in front of the gates of Windcrest Villa.

He said deeply, "Reverse psychology won't work on me."

Nadia's face immediately fell.

She pushed the door open and stepped out, her legs trembling so much she almost collapsed to the ground.

Asher swiftly caught her, pulling her back into his arms.

Nadia's face burned crimson.

The moment she saw Hayden at Blackwood Manor, she was terrified.

He had been too ruthless five years ago.

Even after the whole drive, she still hadn't recovered.

"You want to sue him with those weak knees?"

Asher's words made Nadia want to find a hole to crawl into.

Like a cornered rabbit, she shoved him away fiercely.

She stood up perfectly straight, trying to prove she wasn't a coward.

Her legs wobbled as she walked inside.

Asher's handsome, stoic face was framed by gold-rimmed glasses, giving him an aura of ascetic refinement.

However, the dark eyes behind the lenses were sharp and profound, clearly warning others not to mess with him.

Watching Nadia stubbornly marching ahead, a faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

With one hand in his pocket, he followed closely behind her.

As Nadia entered the living room, a woman happened to be coming down from the second floor.

The woman wore a flimsy nightgown, her stunning curves barely concealed, exuding absolute seduction.

Asher took a measured step back, deliberately putting distance between them.

Yasmine's hand hovered in mid-air, her next move abruptly cut off.

After a brief moment of awkwardness, she quickly regained her usual gentle composure.

"I came to see you. It started raining earlier, and I got drenched, so I took a shower in your room."

Yasmine adjusted her nightgown, a hint of dissatisfaction playing on her lips.

"We've been together for so many years, yet you still haven't figured out my exact size. This top is obviously too tight across the chest."

She intentionally pushed her proud chest forward.

Asher acted as if he didn't see a thing, though his expression grew visibly colder.

"That wasn't bought for you. Take it off and put your own clothes back on. I'll have someone take you home immediately."

Yasmine stared at Asher with deep resentment.

"It was just that one time. Are you still refusing to forgive me? Besides, our families have already set a wedding date. Are you really going to disrespect both our families and call off the engagement?"
