He remained silent for a long time. Faced with Gillian's icy demeanor, his patience completely vanished.
He curled his lips into a mocking sneer. "I underestimated you. You really know how to burn your bridges. While your mother is still in surgery, you're already out flirting with other men?"
His voice was freezing. "Aren't you afraid I'll withdraw the specialist team right now?"
She was afraid. That was exactly why she didn't say a word. York had always been ruthless toward her; there was nothing he wouldn't do.
"Haven't I told you?" York pressed. "Until we're divorced, you belong only to me. Cut ties with those men out there—"
His tone was dripping with threat.
"Mr. Sterling and I are just friends," Gillian explained.
"What kind of friend spends the entire day with you?" York scoffed coldly. He glared at her, completely consumed by fury.
He had tolerated her and catered to her all day, yet she didn't appreciate it at all. Instead, she was pushing her luck.
Did she really think he wouldn't track down those men buzzing around her?
She furrowed her brows and said nothing.
"What? Do you think you're the one being wronged here?"
York's eyes burned with evident anger. He was furious.
No man could tolerate his wife seeing other men. Even if he didn't love her, he wouldn't stand for it. The fact that he had held back until now before exploding was a testament to his patience.
Of course, it was all for the baby in her belly.
Gillian wondered what kind of expression he would make if he knew the baby was already gone.
She sneered internally. No matter what, she wouldn't tell him at this critical juncture. If she provoked him, he really would cut off all of her mother's life support.
Gillian simply chose to stay silent. Silence was golden.
"I won't divorce you, and you feel wronged. I'm dragging you along, and you feel wronged. Is that it?"
She sat on the edge of the bed, lowering her gaze to avoid looking at him.
