His words exploded in Gillian's mind.
She looked at him in sheer disbelief.
Counting the days, yesterday marked exactly three months...
No wonder York insisted she come over tonight. Perhaps this had been his plan all along.
He noted her pale face. "Not willing?"
He stepped toward the door. "I gave you a chance."
Suddenly, Gillian grabbed his hand. She closed her eyes briefly, took a deep breath, and replied with a trembling voice, "Okay."
As she agreed, York let out a scoff. He turned back, reached out, and pinched her chin. "This is all you're good for."
It was blatant humiliation.
His large hand was warm, the searing heat making her heart tremble.
She reached out to unbutton his shirt, standing on her tiptoes to press her lips against his.
His lips were cool, tasting of alcohol mixed with his unique, crisp scent.
Gillian kept her eyes closed, her body shivering slightly.
It had been a long time since they had slept together, let alone shared any real intimacy. In this moment, it felt both entirely foreign and intimately familiar.
He stood rooted to the spot, not making a single move.
Gradually, however, she could feel his breathing grow heavier, clearly strained.
A flush of crimson painted the corners of her eyes, making her look incredibly seductive. An absolute stunner. York's gaze darkened with raw intensity.
How could he possibly hand over such a stunning woman to someone else?
He obviously couldn't. His possessive streak was far too strong.
Having been married for years, Gillian easily sensed his physical shift and reached down to unbuckle his belt.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
