Gillian stopped in her tracks. “Fine. It's the perfect time to tell your grandparents about the divorce. Your mother is already desperate to get rid of me anyway.”

York frowned. “Are you intentionally trying to ruin tonight?”

“I'm incredibly busy and my time is limited. Your mother already knows the truth, and I have zero interest in playing the loving wife.”

The Harvest Gala was meant for family reunions. Her family was shattered. What was there to celebrate?

York let out a dark scoff. “Until Hailey safely delivers this baby, there will be no divorce.”

Gillian glared at him.

“The Foster family has strict rules. She can only secure her status through a child,” York stated flatly. “If we divorce now, my family will brand her as a shameless mistress who schemed her way in.”

Gillian let out a bitter laugh. “And having a baby magically erases the fact that she's a homewrecker?”

York met her gaze with a chilling indifference. “We've been married for five years, and you haven't produced an heir. The family is getting anxious. Once Hailey gives birth, they'll have no choice but to accept her.”
