"I know," Gillian cut him off flatly. She rested her hand over her stomach, her fingers curling tight as she fought back a suffocating wave of despair. "Schedule the abortion."

This pregnancy was unstable.

She had fought with everything she had to protect this baby, but her entire life was collapsing around her.

Her mother's surgery was imminent. She couldn't risk her own physical stability on a pregnancy that might fail anyway. Her mother was going to need round-the-clock care and, more importantly, money.

Keeping this baby would drain resources she no longer had.
