York's social circle had always viewed Gillian as a manipulative gold-digger.
They believed that after the Jordan family's downfall, she had shamelessly clung to the Foster family using a trivial favor from the past, scheming her way into marrying York.
The man's brow furrowed in deep annoyance. He grabbed his jacket and stood up. "Keep your mouth shut if you don't know what you're talking about."
With that, he yanked the private room door open and walked out.

After finalizing details with the expert team, Gillian went to see her mother in the intensive care unit.
Her mother lay motionless in the bed, deathly pale. Gillian stared at her intently, terrified down to her bones that her mother might just slip away forever.
By the time she stepped out, the sky outside was pitch black.
York called to ask where she was and ordered her to come downstairs.
Gillian didn't waste any time. As soon as she got downstairs, she spotted his black Bentley parked by the entrance.
The man happened to be stepping out of the car. He was dressed in high-end, minimalist velvet loungewear. Tall and impossibly striking, he cast a fleeting glance in her direction.
Then, he started walking toward her.
Gillian stood there silently. York reached out and took her hand. Her skin was freezing, entirely devoid of warmth.
He asked, "Why aren't you wearing more layers?"
She didn't reply. She knew York wasn't actually worried about her; he was just worried about his baby.
His large hand firmly enveloped hers, his thumb gently rubbing across her knuckles. Her skin was delicate and smooth. Gradually, the warmth returned to her fingers, but he made no move to let go, merely toying with her hand in his grasp.
Gillian forcefully pulled her hand back and shoved it into her pocket, staring at him with a chilly attitude. "You told me to come down. What is it?"
York's lips twitched slightly, feeling rebuffed.
"Get in the car."
-
Once they were inside the car.
Gillian sat in the passenger seat, leaning quietly against the backrest. Her gaze swept over the car's interior. The decorations had all been meticulously arranged by Hailey, oozing with a girlish aesthetic.
