Chloe rushed over and seized his arm:
"Finn, we're here to bail out Paxton. We need to get him out of here first."
Finn violently yanked his arm free:
"Get away from me! Don't touch me!"
He shoved her so hard she nearly lost her footing. If Paxton hadn't caught her from behind, she would have hit the floor.
"Damn it. Unbelievable. The cheater and the homewrecker, flaunting it in a police station! Have you two no shame?" Paxton spat.
"Watch your mouth! Do you want to stay in lockup?" the officer warned.
Paxton immediately snapped his mouth shut, but a tidal wave of fury was still crashing violently inside him.
He glared at Finn and Sienna, completely disgusted by the deep emotional tension passing between them.
It made him sick to his stomach.
Finn stopped right in front of Sienna and crouched down until he was eye-level with her.
"Are you okay?"
Sienna looked at him without answering, but her eyes undeniably rimmed red.
Finn's heart instantly melted into a puddle of absolute devotion.
"I'm getting you out of here."
Sienna's throat tightened, completely robbing her of speech.
Finn didn't wait for her to respond. He simply reached out and took her hand.
Skin against skin.
After four long years, it was a sensation they had both been starved for.
Familiar, yet so incredibly strange.
A jolt of electricity shot through Sienna, leaving her limbs feeling numb and rigid.
Finn felt the exact same jolt.
Sienna turned her head to look at him as he held her hand, guiding her down the long, sterile hallway.
She studied his face, still marked by the fading bruises.
Just a moment ago, he had crouched in front of her like a child who knew he was in trouble.
She felt the lump in her throat grow heavier, but she stubbornly forced it down.
Chloe stood at the other end of the corridor, watching the scene unfold, her nails digging so hard into her palms they nearly drew blood.
She regretted everything.
She never should have brought Finn here.
She had only brought him to show off in front of Paxton, to prove how perfect her life was now.
She never expected Sienna to be here.
Sienna stepped forward.
She wanted to speak.
But Finn threw an arm out, instinctively blocking her and pulling her behind him.
Sienna looked up at Finn, then firmly pushed his arm down:
"This is my business. I'll handle it myself. Stay out of it."
Finn froze.
Sienna locked eyes with Paxton:
"Since we're all here, let's lay everything out on the table."
Paxton let out a mocking scoff:
"You've got some nerve."
Sienna's gaze shifted right past him, settling on Chloe, who was cowering behind him.
"At the end of the day, all of this happened because of you. Stop hiding, Chloe. Don't you have something you want to say?"
Chloe's face drained of color, her voice tight and high-pitched:
"I have nothing to say to either of you. It's late. York is waiting for me at home, I need to get back."
She turned to run...
