I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 107

But Paxton was thoroughly riled up. He grabbed Chloe as she tried to bolt:

"What are you afraid of? Stand your ground! I'm right here with you, let's confront them!"

Paxton's voice grew louder and more agitated as he pointed an accusing finger at Finn.

"Finn, do you have any idea how much Chloe gave up for you? With her background, guys were lining up around the block for her. And she chose you. And what do you do? How do you treat her?"

Chloe lunged forward and grabbed Paxton's arm.

"Stop it. Please, just stop."

"Why shouldn't I say it? What did I say that wasn't true?" Paxton shook her off. "Chloe, wake up! You let him walk all over you because you love him too much. Look at him! He's protecting his mistress right in front of your face, and you're still defending him?"

Chloe's face turned ash white.

Her lips trembled, and her hands shook violently.

"Paxton, if you still consider me a friend, shut up."

"I'm doing this because you're my friend, and you deserve better!" Paxton roared. "You need to show him you won't be pushed around!"

Finn finally spoke.

He stared dead at Chloe.

"What exactly did you tell him?"

Chloe avoided his gaze, staring at the ground.

"Chloe. I'm asking you. What did you say?" Finn's voice suddenly boomed.

Even Sienna flinched.

She had never heard him yell like that before. It was deafening.

Chloe was paralyzed with fear, biting her lip and physically shaking, entirely mute.

Finn turned to Paxton.

"Chloe and I are not married. Ask her yourself."

Paxton looked like he had been physically struck by the words.

He turned to Chloe in sheer disbelief.

"Wha... what?"

Trembling from head to toe, Chloe managed a tiny nod.

"It's... we're not legally married, but..."

Paxton's expression faltered for a second before hardening again.

"So what if you aren't married? You have a common-law marriage! You have a kid together. That's a fact! The kid is four years old—you can't just deny your own child!"

Finn stared at Chloe, his gaze ice-cold.

He finally understood.

She had been publicly humiliated, dragged into a police station, and not a single person had come to help her.

She only had herself.

That oath was so utterly cruel.

The person he loved most.

How could he ever bear to lose her? But then again... hadn't he already lost her?

Paxton stood there, watching the three of them, as the puzzle pieces finally began clicking into place in his head.

He remembered all the things Chloe had told him.

That Sienna was a homewrecker. That she had seduced Finn and destroyed Chloe's family.

But looking at them now, that clearly wasn't the truth.

"Chloe, answer me," Paxton's voice dropped to a tense whisper. "Is Sienna the other woman?"

Chloe looked at him, her lips trembling uncontrollably.

"Tell me the truth."

Tears finally spilled down Chloe's cheeks.

"No."
