I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 145

The engine sputtered to life, the diesel motor humming dully like a heartbeat.

Sienna kept one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the gearshift, her movements fluid as she stared straight ahead.

The dirt road was brutal. A pothole appeared, but instead of swerving, she drove right through it.

The chassis jolted violently. Finn's left arm absorbed the shock, and he frowned, though he swallowed his groan.

Sienna was completely focused on navigating the treacherous terrain and didn't notice him.

Once the road leveled out, Finn finally spoke.

"You still drive exactly the same as before."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sienna's expression turned glacial.

Was he insulting her driving?

"I'm not blaming you. I'm the one who taught you," Finn said.

Sienna's fingers flinched on the steering wheel.

His words violently unearthed a memory she found utterly humiliating and had tried desperately to bury.

Seven years ago, right after they started dating, Sienna had signed up for a driving school.

She had always been a top student and never imagined she would struggle so miserably with getting her license.

The written exam had been a breeze, but she failed the practical driving test twice in a row.

The consecutive failures shattered her confidence.

That night, talking to Finn on the phone from her dorm, she had sounded completely defeated. Noticing her distress, he had pressed her until she finally broke down in tears.

He hadn't offered any sweet words of comfort. He simply said, "I'll pick you up on Friday night."

That Friday evening, outside the gates of her medical university, Finn had pulled up in a Porsche and drove her out to a deserted stretch of road in the suburbs.

Back then, she didn't recognize the logo. She had no idea how much the car was worth.

Finn sat in the passenger seat, patiently coaching her.

But she was genuinely terrible at driving. The second her hands touched the wheel, her palms would sweat profusely.

And then, she drove straight into a tree.

Thinking back on it, Sienna's heart twisted agonizingly.
