Sienna seized the opening to scramble to her feet, staring down at him with unbridled disgust.
"You really are a piece of trash, Finn." The tears finally broke free, streaming down her face.
She hated herself for it, but she knew she had only brought up the suicide attempt because some pathetic part of her still clung to hope.
She had been waiting for an explanation, praying he would offer some elaborate excuse to fix it all.
Instead, the coward wouldn't even admit he had done it.
Finn lay pinned to the floor, the harsh ceiling lights burning his eyes.
Ignoring the agonizing protests of his battered body, he propped himself up and looked at her in pure bewilderment.
"I swear to God, I never answered that call. Tell me, when exactly did you try to reach me?"
Sienna squeezed her eyes shut.
It was impossible to wake someone who was only pretending to be asleep.
"You don't even have the spine to own your mistakes. I despise you." She turned on her heel and marched toward the door.
Finn scrambled wildly to his feet. Completely ignoring his bleeding arm, he threw his massive frame against the door, barricading the exit. His chest heaved violently as he gasped out in a raw, broken whisper.
"I had absolutely no idea you slit your wrists. No one called me."
Sienna let out a hollow, terrifying laugh at his desperate performance.
"Do you even hear yourself? If you didn't know, then how did you just mention the fact that I cut my wrists? You are shameless, cowardly, and a pathological liar."
With every venomous word, the blood drained further from his face.
Finn was completely cornered. The alcohol clouded his brain, making it impossible to string his thoughts together fast enough.
He desperately searched for an anchor, but could only shake his head in blind panic.
"I guessed it. On the bus that night in Kanya, I figured it out when I saw the scar. I was too terrified to ever bring it up, so I never knew the details. But if you're bringing it up now, I am begging you—tell me the truth."
Sienna was entirely out of patience.
