Silence filled the car for a brief moment.
Sienna Sterling turned her face toward the window, pretending to stare into the darkness outside.
But she could feel Finn Fletcher's gaze burning into her.
"There's no wedding," Finn said. "It's been canceled."
Silence fell once more.
Mrs. Holloway's smile froze on her face before she hastily changed the subject.
Sienna stared out the window, completely motionless.
The mountain wind slipped through the cracks of the window, sending a chill over her skin.
Her heart was racing entirely out of control.
Joey focused on driving from the front seat.
The hum of the engine was muffled.
Sienna's phone suddenly buzzed.
She glanced down to see a message from Paxton Zane. It was long, split into three separate texts.
[I looked into Yolanda Fletcher's right-hand man. His name is Quincy Quinn. He's thirty-seven, started working as Yolanda's assistant right after graduating community college, and specializes in handling her dirty work. He's currently on vacation, out of Metropolis.]
Sienna instinctively shot a glance at Finn, who was busy chatting with Mrs. Holloway.
She shifted to the side, angling her screen away so Finn couldn't see it.
She kept reading.
[This guy has no parents, only an uncle. His uncle used to be the estate manager for the Fletcher family. He quit three years ago and apparently lives in Blue Ridge now.]
[Quincy's uncle is named Arthur Winston. Quincy treats him exceptionally well, so he might be a good starting point. I tapped into a lot of my network to find this out. Does this help?]
Sienna stared at the screen. Blue Ridge. Willow Creek was right in the Blue Ridge area.
It was too much of a coincidence.
Her fingers flew across the screen:
[Very helpful. Thanks for the hard work.]
Paxton replied instantly:
[Do you need me to come over and help?]
Sienna thought about it for a moment:
[No need. But let me ask you something—did you tell Finn Fletcher I was here?]
[Wasn't me. Why, did he show up?]
[Yeah.]
