I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 218

Silas looked at Finn, his expression completely unreadable.

"Why? Is there a problem with Dr. Sterling?"

Finn remained silent for two agonizing seconds.

"No."

Silas gave a curt nod.

"Good."

Silas and Finn exchanged a few brief words.

Listening from the sidelines, Sienna pieced together that they were connected through some sort of family relation, though the exact dynamic eluded her.

Once Silas departed, Sienna remained rooted to her spot.

Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs, but her face remained a mask of flawless professionalism.

Finn despised her. He didn't want her managing his care; he clearly didn't even want her breathing the same air.

Which was perfectly fine. It aligned exactly with what she wanted—no debts, no entanglements, and ideally, zero contact.

But right now, he was a patient, and she was a professional medical provider.

She desperately needed this job. She had to keep her composure.

Sienna walked to the bedside, picked up the medical chart from the nightstand, and flipped it open.

Lab results, progress notes, and physician orders. She scanned the pages one by one.

"Has your ECG been completed?"

"Yes."

"And the results?"

"Normal."

Finn's voice was low and rough with exhaustion.

They spoke to each other like absolute strangers.

Sienna felt a wave of relief. Everything was strictly clinical, completely under her control.

She jotted down notes in the chart, the pen gliding smoothly over the paper. Her hands were perfectly steady.

"We'll need another blood draw tomorrow morning. You must be fasting."

"I know."

She lifted her stethoscope from her neck.

The metal chest piece was cold in the sterile air, so she pressed it into her palm to warm it up.

She stepped closer to Finn, her eyes focused strictly on his chest.

"Lift your shirt."

Finn moved sluggishly, his entire body radiating stiff resistance.

Sienna simply waited, her face devoid of emotion. She didn't rush him, nor did she reach out to help.
