I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 238

"Mr. Lowman, do you really think you're doing the Fletcher family a favor? You're just a disposable pawn. If an outsider like you gets dragged into a war between the Fletchers, you'll be the first casualty."

He stopped walking, though he didn't turn around.

"You know perfectly well who the Fletchers are. You can't afford to piss them off, and neither can I. Being used by them is far better than being crushed by them."

Sienna was about to argue when the deep purr of a car engine sounded behind her.

A black Bentley pulled up slowly, parking right outside the hardware store.

The door swung open, and a long leg stepped out onto the pavement.

Sienna watched Mr. Lowman's face drain of all color.

She followed his line of sight, turning around to look...

It was Finn.

The brutal June sun of Riverdale baked the asphalt until it was soft.

Yet, the moment Finn stepped out of the car, the harsh sunlight seemed to bend around him.

He wore a thin white t-shirt. The striking lines of his forearms surged with power, stretching taut from his wrists to his elbows—the sculpted, lean build of someone who spent thousands of hours in strict aviation training.

Broad shoulders tapering down to a narrow waist, sharp, straight posture, and cleanly defined collarbones.

As the sun bathed his shoulders, even the light seemed mesmerized by him.

Mr. Lowman was utterly paralyzed.

He had never met Finn in person, but the car, the face, the aristocratic elegance bleeding out of his very bones told him exactly who this was.

"Mr. Fletcher?"

Finn didn't even glance his way.

He walked straight up to Sienna, stopped, and looked at her, his voice melting with tenderness.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Sienna, running on practically zero sleep, felt a massive headache spike through her temples.

Finn finally turned to look at Mr. Lowman.

"You've mistaken me. Though, my brother and I do look somewhat alike," Finn said, his voice low but razor-sharp. "I've seen you before. Your company submitted a bid to my brother last year."

"Ah, the younger Mr. Fletcher! Apologies, my sincere apologies." Mr. Lowman practically bowed as he thrust out a hand to shake.

Finn ignored the outstretched hand entirely.

"Mr. Lowman, at the end of the day, this is internal Fletcher family business. As an outsider, there's absolutely no need for you to get involved."

As he spoke, Finn instinctively shot a glance at Sienna.

It was the deeply affectionate, entirely helpless look of a boyfriend indulging a woman who was currently furious with him.
