I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 277

Finn had just seen the scar again.

She looked down at her wrist, the silver-white scar catching the faint light.

They had once been the most intimate of lovers, sharing no secrets.

But now, this scar was an insurmountable chasm between them. He couldn't cross it, and she couldn't bypass it.

"I'm sorry." Finn buried his face in his hands, his voice muffled against his palms, heavy with sorrow.

Sienna leaned weakly against the sofa, looking at the curve of his tense spine.

The white T-shirt was soaked with sweat again, clinging to him and clearly outlining his shoulder blades.

Her throat tightened with unspeakable sorrow.

"You don't need to apologize anymore. Didn't we already say it? We're even."

Finn lowered his hands, letting them rest on his knees.

"I shouldn't have lost control like that today. It won't happen again."

He stood up as he spoke.

His gaze suddenly landed on the white box.

The box was already open, the signature blue Tiffany ribbon draped over the edge, the pink gemstones radiating a soft, warm glow under the light.

He knew this necklace. It was a popular choice in their circle lately—a classic gift for a romantic confession.

Silas had made his move.

Sienna followed his gaze and practically blurted out:

"I didn't open it, and I'm not keeping it."

As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted them.

It sounded too defensive.

Why was she explaining? What did she have to prove to him?

"Sienna." His voice was incredibly low. "No matter what, I just want you to be happy. Make the choices you believe are right. Live the life you want to live."

Sienna looked up at him.

"What do you mean by that?"

Her heart had already sunk.

Living the life she wanted was her ultimate goal, too.

But hearing those words come from him made a suffocating ache blossom in her chest.

An endless silence fell over the room.

Neither of them could bridge the gap between them.
