Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 702

When Clive made his offer, the Jenkinses' eyes practically sparkled.

Kallie jumped in right away. “The bride price is one hundred eighty-eight thousand—”

She didn’t even finish. Dale tugged on her arm and gave Clive a greedy smile. “Salmeron, I bet someone like you, with all your money, has no idea how tough it is for a village couple to raise a daughter!” He rubbed his hands together, stealing glances at Clive’s reaction.

Liana knew that look on her dad’s face all too well. The greed was so raw it seemed to smooth out all the wrinkles on his face. She used to hate when her parents showed off their selfish, shameless side in public. Every time they’d show up at her school, they’d embarrass her—loud voices, rough manners, demanding money, even mocking her for wearing something new.

But now, Liana was almost grateful for their ugly greed.

She watched Clive carefully. His expression was pure disgust.

Clive’s tone was icy. “So, what exactly are you asking for?”

Dale spread out five thick, calloused fingers. “We want five hundred thousand. The bride price, plus compensation for all the years we spent raising Liana.”

Clive almost laughed. “Five hundred thousand? Are you trying to sell your daughter to me?”

Kallie, worried Clive might say no, launched straight into her usual drama. “Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on between you and my daughter! You look like a decent guy, but if you don’t pay up, I’ll show up at your work and make a scene for everyone to see! I’ll tell them you took advantage of my girl—let’s see how long you keep that job!”

Liana had to bite back a smile.

This wasn’t the first time her parents had pulled this stunt. The summer after she graduated high school, she tutored a classmate—Zach, a cute guy from a semi-wealthy family—because she needed the cash. He liked her, and honestly, she liked him too. Spending every day together, things got closer and more complicated.

Back then, Liana had daydreamed that maybe Zach could save her from her leeching family. Reality, of course, slapped her awake.

She and Zach had gone to see a movie in town. Someone from the village caught them kissing, snapped a photo, and sent it straight to her parents.

When she got home, Kallie slapped her across the face. They called her shameless, forced her to kneel at the gate while the villagers gawked and whispered. Furious and shaking, Liana blurted out that she’d slept with Zach. Kallie yanked her by the hair, beat her, and locked her in her room.

Through the rusty bars on her window, Liana watched her parents storm out of the house. They weren’t going to defend her—they were furious that she was “damaged goods” and wouldn’t fetch a high bride price anymore.

Still, Liana hoped Zach would keep his promises, stand up to her parents, say he’d marry her. She kept hoping he’d protect her.

Her parents didn’t come home until the next evening. By then, Liana hadn’t eaten or drunk anything for a day and a half. She saw them walk in, grinning, holding a thick envelope stuffed with cash. All her hopes shattered on the spot.

Dale fumbled for his phone, rattled off the info, and Clive sent the transfer without hesitation.

The Jenkinses’ faces lit up as they saw the five hundred thousand land in their account. Pure joy.

Then, behind them, Aiden showed up in a crisp suit, a lawyer right beside him, striding over with purpose.

“Salmeron,” Aiden greeted.

Clive, still on his phone, said calmly, “I just sent you the audio recording of their little extortion scheme, plus the transfer record. You can handle the rest.”

He barely glanced at Liana’s parents, who suddenly looked completely lost.

“Five hundred thousand—that’s more than enough to keep them locked up for the rest of their lives.”

The color drained from the Jenkinses’ faces.

“What extortion? You gave us that money yourself!”
