Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 703

Liana’s parents lunged for Clive, but Aiden stepped in, pulling them back with a sharp warning. “Keep your hands to yourself. This isn’t your village. Try causing trouble here and you’ll only make things worse for yourselves.”

Clive didn’t waste another second on them. He turned on his heel and walked away, long strides carrying him quickly down the hall. Liana hurried after him.

“Salmeron!”

He didn’t slow down. His voice was cold. “If you’re here to plead for your parents, I can have my lawyer let them off the hook, but that’ll be the last time we ever see each other.”

To men like Clive, being poor wasn’t a deal-breaker. Sometimes, a beautiful woman’s poverty even made her more appealing. But trouble? That was something he wouldn’t tolerate.

“You’ve got it wrong, Salmeron.” Liana grabbed the hem of his sleeve. Her grip was light but it made him stop, glancing down at her hand, her fingers clinging to his cuff.

He turned to face her, towering over her.

“I just wanted to thank you,” Liana said, her voice steady and sincere. “And… to apologize. I’m sorry you had to see that side of me.” She gave a small, bitter laugh, half mocking herself. “I really wanted to look put-together in front of you. I didn’t want you to see where I come from.” She bit her lip, held her head high, and spoke like she was finally brave enough to say it. “Salmeron, please don’t think less of me.”

Her eyes were careful, almost fragile with hope.

Clive stared at her for a moment, then gently brushed his hand over the side of her face where she’d been hit. His voice softened. “When things calm down, I’ll come by for dinner again.”

Liana’s face lit up with a true, wide smile. “Okay!” she said, nodding hard.

She stood there watching Clive walk away, her smile slowly fading. In its place, relief settled in, cool and calm. For the first time in forever, she felt free.

She turned back just in time to see her parents being dragged outside by two burly security guards. “You said you were just here to see your daughter. That’s the only reason we let you in!” one of the guards snapped. “Instead, you caused a scene!”

Her parents, who had always seemed so big and terrifying, now looked almost ridiculous—hauled away like squawking chickens. They cursed at Liana, then immediately turned to the guards, pleading for mercy.

Liana felt nothing at all.

Aiden walked up and handed her a business card. “Ms. Jenkins, I’m Aiden, Salmeron’s personal assistant. If you run into any trouble, you can contact me directly.”

The car rolled to a stop at the docks. Amelia stepped out and saw three boats floating just offshore, none of them tied up. A group of men in camouflage walked over.

“Ms. Sadinton?” The man in front introduced himself. “I’m Kit, Interpol. I’m in charge here. Just call me Kit.”

Before she could answer, a blaring siren exploded from speakers at the port, so loud it made her flinch and clap her hands over her ears.

Then a deep, accented male voice echoed out: “Ms. Sadinton, we finally meet. You’re even more beautiful in person. Please, come aboard the middle boat.”

His pronunciation was awkward—obviously a foreigner speaking her language.

As the voice faded, a ramp dropped from the big boat in the center, linking it to the dock. Four armed men appeared on the deck.

Amelia took a step forward, but Kit held out an arm to block her.
