Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 709

Diana glanced back at him, a hint of sadness flickering in her eyes. “Yeah, this place has been around forever…”

As she spoke, a gentle, graceful woman came over to serve their tea. She looked to be in her forties, with a kind face and a softness about her.

“Ms. Brooks, jasmine tea as always. And for you, Mr. Morris?” she asked.

Diana leaned in and whispered to Aaron, “That’s Collin’s wife, Mandy.”

Aaron gave Mandy a polite nod. “I’ll have the same, thanks.”

Mandy smiled warmly. “You got it.”

There were a few fine lines at the corners of her eyes when she smiled, but they only made her seem more elegant, not old. Time had simply added a quiet dignity to her features.

“You two relax, I’ll help in the kitchen. Food will be out soon,” Mandy said, then disappeared into the back.

Diana watched her go with a bittersweet smile. “Mandy never seems to age. Collin really treats her well.”

Aaron gently brought the conversation back around. “Did you come here a lot as a kid?”

“Yeah… my parents used to bring me all the time.” Diana traced her fingertip along the rim of her teacup. Aaron’s eyes drifted to the pale green cup, its color making her hands look even more delicate and clean.

He looked away and took a small sip of tea.

“Mr. Morris, you’re the Brooks family’s biggest creditor—you probably know we used to have it all,” Diana said, trying to sound casual, but her smile was a little forced. “My parents were crazy about each other. My mom loved good food, so my dad would hunt down the best places just to take her and me out to eat. This place was their anniversary spot every year. And whenever they could get a table, they’d come, even if it wasn’t a special occasion.”

“I was always the third wheel,” Diana laughed softly, gazing out at the moonlit window, as if lost in memories from a time when her parents were still alive. “Jasmine tea was my mom’s favorite.”

Aaron was the kind of listener who made it easy to open up. His focus was steady, not probing or judgmental, just quietly attentive.

Diana looked at him and felt her guard drop.

She never bothered to hide anything in front of Aaron. He was the one she owed the most to—the one whose debt had taken her ten years to pay off.

Nobody knew better than he did how much damage her dad had done.

“Mr. Morris, want to hear another secret?” Diana leaned in a little.

Aaron didn’t move, just lowered his eyes slightly. “Go ahead.”

Ten years is a long time…

So long, she’d almost forgotten she was ever Jewel, her parents’ beloved ruby.

A little while later, Mandy returned with a spread of beautifully prepared dishes. Each one looked simple on the surface, but tasted amazing, every flavor perfectly balanced.

Aaron was used to the best food money could buy. He wasn’t fussy, but his taste was sharper than most.

Yet tonight, he couldn’t find a single thing to criticize.

“So, what do you think, Mr. Morris?” Diana asked, waiting for his answer.

Aaron nodded. “It’s delicious.”

Diana broke into a big smile. “Told you, I’ve been coming here forever. Mr. Morris, now that you’ve enjoyed the meal, can I ask you something? It’s about your friend…”

Aaron dabbed his mouth with a napkin, all easy elegance. “You want to ask about Ryan?”
