Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 713

Amelia picked at her bland plate of sea fish on the deck, her eyes fixed on Tiger Wind Island as it grew larger in the distance.

It was just a speck in the middle of the ocean, cut off from everything. Once you were on that island, your only way out was by boat or plane. Amelia knew the truth—if she actually made it onto the island, getting away would be next to impossible.

The place was a maze, crawling with different groups fighting for control. She’d stick out like a sore thumb—a woman, a total stranger. Even if she managed to slip away from Tatum, she doubted she’d survive long enough for help to arrive.

No, her best shot at freedom was right as they docked.

A ship like this had to have lifeboats. She wandered the decks under the excuse of needing some fresh air, and it didn’t take her long to spot the lifeboats on the main deck. All she had to do was lower the ropes and she’d be off.

Of course, pulling it off wouldn’t be that simple.

The closer they got to shore, though, the better her phone signal became. Amelia ducked into the restroom and finally managed to get a call through to the military.

Kit answered immediately. He’d already pinpointed her location and told her the rescue team was on the way.

“Ms. Sadinton, our contact is on Tiger Wind Island. He’ll meet you on shore and help you get away. As soon as you’re in the lifeboat, just head back the way you came. Stay safe. We’ll handle the rest.”

“Got it.”

She didn’t know anything about this contact, but just knowing she wasn’t alone sent a wave of relief through her.

Outside the restroom, Tara called, “Ms. Sadinton, are you okay? We’re about to dock.”

“I’m coming,” Amelia said, forcing herself to sound calm as she stepped out.

Tiger Wind Island was right there, the shoreline crowded with Tatum’s men waiting for him. Their faces painted, skin dark from the sun, each one a complete stranger. Somewhere in that group was the person sent to help her.

Tatum looked like he was in the best mood of his life. “Ms. Sadinton, welcome to Tiger Wind Island. As long as you follow my lead and cooperate, nothing will happen to you. After you.”

Amelia stayed put.

Tatum’s smile faltered. “Ms. Sadinton…”

Before he could say anything else, Amelia whipped out a gun and grabbed Tara, pressing her close.

“Sorry,” she whispered under her breath.

Tara was the only person she could take as a hostage. The poor woman’s legs nearly gave out from fear.
