Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 722

Alson Creek Airport

Clive leaned against a sleek black G-Wagen, eyes glued to the airport’s sliding doors. He was tense, barely breathing as the minutes dragged by. Finally, Caroline’s familiar figure appeared in the crowd.

“Clive!” she called, breaking into a run.

Clive pushed off the car and met her halfway. He noticed two men shadowing her. Even out of uniform, you could tell they were military—backs straight, eyes sharp, alert to everything around them.

“Clive…” Caroline’s voice trembled as her eyes filled with tears. She wasted no time launching into a dramatic complaint. “You have no idea what I’ve been through. That awful island was crawling with bugs. They bit me everywhere! And then they locked me in a cage…”

Clive didn’t even try to comfort her. His voice was icy. “You brought this on yourself. No one could stop you from chasing after Felix. Honestly, you deserved a little payback.”

“Clive!” she protested, pouting.

He ignored her and turned to the two men. “Thanks for bringing her back.”

One of them nodded. “Mr. Salmeron, please make sure Ms. Salmeron doesn’t leave Alson Creek for the time being.”

Clive frowned, confused, but before he could ask, Caroline exploded.

“Why are you all acting like I’m a criminal? I’m not your prisoner!”

Clive shot her a glare, then asked the men, “Did Caroline do something?”

“We don’t have all the details. We’re just following Kit’s orders,” the man replied. “Until Ms. Amelia Sadinton is back safely, Ms. Salmeron needs to stay put in Alson Creek. She’s not to leave.”

Hearing Amelia’s name, Clive’s expression shifted. “What happened to Amelia? Didn’t she make it back?”

The man answered, “Far as we know, Kit had a whole rescue planned. The helicopter picked up Ms. Sadinton, but somehow Ms. Salmeron ended up there too. In the end, only Ms. Salmeron was brought back.”

Clive’s face darkened. He turned to Caroline, voice low and cold. “What happened?”

Caroline looked anywhere but at her brother. “Clive, it was chaos. Amelia… she fell. It wasn’t my fault.”

“It all happened so fast,” she sniffled, eyes brimming with tears. “We were both climbing up the rescue rope. You know I’m scared of heights, right? My legs turned to jelly and I slipped. My foot hit Amelia’s hand. I even looked back and tried to grab her, but she couldn’t hold on. She just… fell into the ocean.”

Clive’s eyes narrowed. He didn’t believe a word.

“That’s the truth?” he pressed.

“Of course!” Caroline shot back, her voice rising. “What did you expect me to do? Jump after her? You wanted both of us to die?”

Clive slammed on the brakes, pulling the car over.

He was breathing hard, furious. “Shut up! I’m telling you right now, nothing is going to happen to Amelia!”

Caroline shrank into her seat, startled by his anger. “Clive, why are you yelling at me? Shouldn’t you be happy I’m back safe? Amelia’s your ex-wife. Why do you care what happens to her? Honestly, it’d be better if she was gone—no one would fight you for Timmy and Penny then!”

“Caroline!”
