"I hit you to wake you up!" Clive's chest heaved, his voice as cold as ice. "Stop being so reckless and arrogant! I spoiled you in the past, but from today on, I will not indulge you, nor will I clean up your messes!"
"Clive, how can you not believe me?!" Caroline shrieked hysterically, tears streaming down her face and ruining her makeup.
Liana timed her approach perfectly, stepping forward to gently and pitifully tug at Clive's sleeve.
"Mr. Salmeron, I'm fine. I won't call the police, and I won't press charges. You're my benefactor, so I only wanted to do something nice for Ms. Salmeron..."
Clive let out a heavy breath. He took off his suit jacket and draped it gently over Liana's shoulders, his eyes filled with heartache.
"Liana, how can you be so kind? Come on, I'll take you to the hospital."
"You're not leaving!" Caroline was losing her mind. She rushed forward to block the door, knowing that whatever she said right now was useless.
There were no cameras in the bathroom, she had locked the door herself, and the maid outside had witnessed her initially attacking Liana in the living room—the perfect witness against her!
It was she who had underestimated what a scheming bitch Liana was!
"Clive, she poisoned me!" Caroline ripped open her collar, exposing the terrifying spread of red welts. Some areas had already been scratched open and were crusted with dark blood.
Clive was taken aback. "How did this happen?"
"It was this bitch's doing!" Caroline pointed a shaking finger at Liana and screamed. "She deliberately misled me into thinking you bought me that medicine, so I drank it without a second thought!"
A sudden realization hit her. "I know! Dr. Reed didn't prescribe that! She bought some sketchy garbage from an unlicensed pharmacy!"
Clive frowned, looking back at Liana with a scrutinizing gaze.
Liana wasn't surprised. After all, she wasn't the real Amelia, and Caroline was Clive's flesh and blood sister.
Biting her lip, Liana looked at him with red-rimmed eyes. Her voice was so weak it sounded like it might break at any second.
"Mr. Salmeron... why would I hurt your sister? I got the medicine from Dr. Reed, and he wrote the prescription himself... I... I have the receipt..."
Caroline stood there looking smug, waiting for Liana's lies to be exposed.
However, there was a brief pause on the other end of the line.
Then, Adrian's voice came through, crisp and definitive. "Yes, I have the records right here. I remember Ms. Jenkins very clearly. I wrote the prescription, and I personally prepared and brewed the medicine. Why do you ask? Is there a problem?"
The smile on Caroline's face instantly froze.
"That's impossible!" she shrieked. "Adrian, think carefully before you speak! That bitch sent me that medicine, and it gave me a full-body rash!"
Adrian was well aware of Caroline's spoiled, tyrannical nature, as well as her vicious temper.
It wasn't hard to guess why she was targeting Liana—it was simply because she looked so much like Amelia.
Adrian's tone turned icy. "Ms. Salmeron, I am absolutely certain. Ms. Jenkins came in personally to get the medicine, saying she was getting it to help her benefactor's sister recover from a shock. I wrote the prescription based on her description. The herbs used were purely for mild nourishment and calming the nerves; they couldn't possibly cause any harm. You absolutely would not have an allergic reaction to drinking it. Unless... you intentionally caused the allergic reaction yourself."
