Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 995

Besides the slippery roads, there was also the beauty of snow to appreciate.

"You haven't had breakfast yet, have you?" Xander asked, handing Lisa a bag.

She looked over at him, but he was completely unfazed. He simply smiled in return. "Your favorite wheat toast."

She took the bag and opened it, finding that it was indeed her favorite. "How did you know I love this?"

"Because I'm your boyfriend," he replied. "If I don't even know what you like to eat, your mom would catch me lying when she interviews me." He grinned.

He always spoke with a smile. People often said that those who smiled a lot had the best luck, and he was certainly living proof.

Having eaten the breakfast he prepared, they arrived at the hospital. Someone—perhaps the patients or the hospital staff—had built a few quirky snowmen.

"I swear, people are so creative these days. Those snowmen are practically works of art!" In his eyes, everything in the world was beautiful.

Lisa suddenly remembered a saying that went, "When your heart is filled with sunshine, the world becomes beautiful."

"Come on, let me snap a pic of you. We should capture this beauty," Xander said, pulling out his phone.

This was a hospital, bustling with familiar colleagues, so she refused. "I don't want to."

"Then take one of me!" He was somewhat like a child who hadn't grown up.

Lisa had already troubled him and even eaten his breakfast, so she felt obligated to do as he asked. She took several photos of him.

When he finally left the snowman, Lisa thought they could leave. But he ran up to someone and handed them his phone. "Please take a photo of us."

He rushed over to Lisa, ignoring her protests, and dragged her over to the snowman to pose for a picture.

"Look! It's beautiful," he said, showing her the photo on his phone.

My due date was near, and my large belly was causing me a lot of discomfort. I couldn't sleep well at night.

"Can I give birth early?" I asked Lisa.

"You're already 38 weeks pregnant, so you could. But I still recommend waiting for a natural delivery," Lisa, being the head of OB-GYN, advised.

She went on to explain that while babies born at 38 weeks were technically full-term, there was still a difference between those born naturally and those induced.

Since she said that, I had no choice but to continue waiting. Three days before Christmas, I started having contractions. As a result, I was admitted to the hospital.

However, after Lisa examined me, she said it was just a false alarm. I was experiencing false labor pains, and my pelvis hadn't opened up yet. But it wouldn't be long now, so she advised me to stay in the hospital and wait.

Since she was at the hospital and I had a VIP suite, I decided to stay.

Lisa arranged a dedicated nurse for me, but it was someone I didn't know. I was familiar with the OB-GYN department. There was hardly a doctor or nurse there I didn't know!
