Love's Redemption (Chris and Maddie) novel Chapter 996

"She transferred from pediatrics and is specifically in charge of the VIP ward. She's a senior nurse," Lisa explained, and I understood.

"Maddie, ever since you've had a man, you don't come here often anymore. The doctors and nurses have changed. The nurses rotate shifts throughout the hospital, so many are new faces to you," she said.

The world was constantly changing, and few things remained the same. Just like me—I was now the owner of a tea house.

Although I wasn't due to give birth yet, Brandon was already on edge. He refused to leave my side for even a moment.

As Christmas approached, my belly still showed no signs of labor. I was starting to feel restless.

"Brandon, I want to go back to the estate and get everything ready. This will be the first Christmas for the tea house." I had always dreamed of spending Christmas in the tea house, lighting the grand fireplace. I imagined being surrounded by green and red decorations. I looked forward to decorating the Christmas tree. I had envisioned a beautifully set table with flowers, an assortment of fruits, and gathering around the stove for a cozy tea session.

"We'll have to consult with Lisa. She needs to agree first." Brandon was worried about me but didn't want to disappoint me.

I knew that life was a one-way journey, and if I missed this opportunity, it would be gone forever.

Lisa examined me and said, "There are no signs of labor yet, but childbirth is unpredictable. No one can say for sure when it will happen... You might go into labor right when you get home."

Although she was stating a fact, I playfully slapped her hand. "Can't you just say that the baby will wait until after Christmas?"

Lisa laughed. "Do I get to decide that? This is up to your little one to decide. Am I right, baby?" She gently tapped my belly while talking to the baby.

Since Lisa said it was okay, I decided to head back to the estate. As I was leaving the hospital, Lisa reminded Brandon, "If anything happens, call me."

He agreed and handed her an envelope with money. "Here, a little something for you. Merry Christmas."

Lisa tucked her hands into her white coat pockets. "The hospital has a strict policy prohibiting the acceptance of gifts."
