The moment Luis carried Deanna away, I knew it–I had lost completely.
The guests at the party were all sharp people. They saw the shift in the atmosphere and slipped out one after another.

Just then, the pack medic rushed in with a first–aid kit, his team hurrying behind him. They collided with the guests trying to leave.
“Alpha, which Luna is hurt?” one of them asked.
Kathryn stood still, glanced back at me, then quickly turned toward Desmond.
start with Desmond. See if his head is okay.”
She pulled the scarf around her shoulders and walked straight to the living room, leaving me behind.
Kathryn’s coldness terrified me. I screamed hysterically.
“Mom, please don’t go! I was wrong! Don’t leave me I’ll never do it again!”
But she didn’t even slow down.
I turned desperately to Philip. “Dad, you won’t blame me, right?”
His brow furrowed. He stayed silent for a long time before finally speaking.
“Jillian, we’ve spoiled you for too long. But tonight you went too far. You disgraced the pack. Since you don’t care about our honor, then from today on, you’re moving out. You’re no longer our daughter.”
“No!” I shook my head wildly, my teeth chattering from pain.
“Dad, I won’t leave. This is my home. I’m your daughter–the heiress of the Mistbane Pack!”
But Philip just turned and walked away, his back firm and unyielding, not a trace of regret.
The pack medic glanced around, then lifted his kit and ignored me completely. He hurried straight to Desmond.
The nurses followed, gathering around him. Not one of them came near the abandoned daughter.
I wiped my tears away with a hard swipe of my hand. Hatred surged inside me, spreading like fire.
Why?
I was so close.
Why would this happen to me?
Why did Luis help that slut?

“Desmond, it hurts so badly. Please help me.
“You said you’d always stand by me. I made one mistake–Mom and Dad won’t forgive me, but are you going to turn away too? When I was little, you tucked me into bed. When I was bullied, you protected me. Desmond, do you not want me either?”
His face was a picture of torn. At long last, he let out a long sigh.
“Alright. Stop crying. I know you are just confused.”

“Check Jay’s leg now. Send us both to the hospital. If anything happens to her, I’ll hold you all responsible!”
The staff scrambled at once. Finally, one of them crouched down to examine my leg.
I leaned back on the grass, and the corner of my lips curled into a quiet smile.
