Chapter 370 Into the Cold

Deanna’s POV:

I stopped a servant with a ponytail and asked her where the storage shed was.

The servant kept her head down the entire time and didn’t say a word, only pointing in a direction.

I asked her to send a couple of people over to help, and she hurriedly mumbled a response before scurrying off.

The storage shed behind Bluestone Pack’s villa was a good distance from the main hall, reachable only by a narrow path.

The streetlamps cast a dim yellow glow, and the tree branches rustled loudly in the wind. Compared to the brightly lit party hall ahead, this place felt like a completely different world.

The further I walked, the darker and more ominous the atmosphere became.

I spotted the storage shed up ahead, its large door standing open.

Just as I was about to head over, Mila let out a low warning growl inside me. Deanna, something doesn’t feel right here.

I stopped in my tracks immediately.

I pressed myself against a nearby wall and scanned my surroundings.

Just to be safe, I figured I should text Luis first.

But when I pulled out my phone, I found there was no signal.

How could there be no signal on Bluestone Pack’s own territory?

Combined with Mila’s warning, something was definitely off.

I decided to head back to the party first, find Luis, and then come back for Maggie.

I had just turned to leave when I heard Maggie scream in terror from inside the shed.

I gritted my teeth. Without another thought, I spun around and ran toward the building.

Maggie, what’s wrong?

Maggie looked up and saw me, relief flooding her face even as tears welled in her eyes. Deanna! You scared me! All the lights in the shed suddenly went out, and I thought I saw something by the window. It freaked me out.

I pulled out my phone and switched on the flashlight, sweeping the beam across the cluttered. pitchblack storage shed until the beam landed on Maggic, who was slumped against a shelf.

Her face was pale, and she looked genuinely terrified.

We need to get out of here. Can you walk?

Maggie forced herself to stand and tried to take a step, but she cried out in pain. No, I think I twisted my ankle.”

I’ve got you.

I walked over and helped her up, ready to get us out of this freezing storage shed.

Suddenly, the heavy storageshed door groaned and slowly swung shut.

Maggie’s eyes went wide with fear. What’s happening? Is anyone out there? We’re locked in! Someone open the door!

She frantically dug her phone out of her pocket, then slid down against the wall in despair. No signal how can there be no signal?

I helped Maggie sit down against the wall before rushing over to bang on the door. There was no response,

After a moment of thought, I said, Looks like someone lured me here on purpose to trap us.” Realization dawned on Maggie’s face, and guilt washed over her features.

I get it now! They must have used me as bait! I’m so sorry, Deanna. I’ve dragged you into trouble again.

Just then, a door to an adjacent storage room that had been tightly sealed suddenly swung

open.

A hissing sound of machinery filled the air as a cloud of white, freezing mist came pouring out.

It was clearly a walkin freezer, used to store Bluestone Pack’s food supplies. The temperature inside had to be at least O°F.

A wave of bonechilling cold hit me, making my whole body shudder.
