Chapter 378 Awake
Third–person POV:
Another ward in the hospital.
When Luis brought Deanna in, Aaron also had the wolf guards bring Maggie in.
Maggie wasn’t pregnant, so her condition was much better than Deanna’s.

After treatment, her body temperature had returned to normal, but her legs were still a bit stiff; she walked very slowly.
She got down from the bed, heart burning with anxiety, wanting to see Deanna.
She moved slowly to the VIP ward door.
Two burly wolf guards stood at the entrance.
Maggie could only stand helplessly at the doorway, looking in, unable to enter.
She saw the noble Alpha, Luis, sitting quietly at the bedside.
He was like a statue, motionless, his eyes fixed without a blink on Deanna lying there.
When she came just now, Maggie had already asked the doctors.
Knowing Deanna’s condition wasn’t ideal, her heart sank to rock bottom.
Now, seeing with her own eyes Deanna on the bed–no trace of color, silent as a breathless flower-
Maggie felt a knife twist in her chest; tears burst uncontrollably.
Crying, her voice thick with guilt and remorse. I’m sorry, I hurt Deanna. If not for me, Deanna wouldn’t be like this.
“I’m sorry,
I’m
sorry. Deanna, you must wake up
The wail at the door carried into the room.
Luis’s cold, sharp brows did not move in the slightest; the black of his eyes never left the woman on the bed–his world contained only her.
“May I see Deanna? Just one look.”

Maggie tried to step forward, to enter; the moment her foot lifted, a wolf guard’s arm barred her.
Luis spat a single word, frigid. “Leave.”
His voice hit like a blizzard in midwinter, freezing the air in an instant.
If not for Deanna lying here–knowing she would be angry-
Luis would not have restrained himself from killing her.
Feeling the brutal killing intent pouring off him, Maggie trembled despite herself.
She knew Luis blamed her.
She blamed herself, too.
She had harmed Deanna twice.
Maggie dropped to her knees with a thud, tears still flowing, voice choked. “If something happens to Deanna, I won’t live either. I’ll atone with my life.”
Luis’s black eyes held no warmth; his face was indifferent, his voice cold enough to terrify. “And what would that change? Even if you died a hundred times, it wouldn’t pay for her lying here.”
Deanna would not wake because of that.
The two wolf guards, understanding their Alpha’s stance, immediately lift
away.

Silence returned to the VIP ward, broken only by the harsh beeping of the heart monitor. Luis sat quietly at the bedside, the black of his gaze never leaving Deanna lying there. Her lips were a little dry, like a withered rose.
