Luis and Erik were about to walk into the room when they heard the voices inside. Both men froze at the door and shot cach other a dark look.
Luis thought, You went five times in one night?
Erik thought, You went seven times in one night?
Luis frowned. “Tell Violet to stay away from my woman. I don’t want her filling her head with
nonsense.”
Erik wasn’t happy about that.
He defended her. “What’s wrong with Violet? She’s just honest. I think you’re overprotecting Deanna. She’s a healer, and she’s about to be the Luna of the Mooncrown Pack. She’s going to meet all kinds of werewolves. You can’t control everything.”
He wasn’t wrong.
Luis knew he couldn’t be with her 24/7.
He wanted to arrange wolf guards to follow Deanna everywhere. Something like what happened before could never happen again.
Luis pushed the door open with his long stride and walked into the hospital room.
Erik hurried after him.
Violet froze when they walked in. She felt a little guilty. She didn’t know if the Alpha had heard the wild things she just said.
She tried to act calm as she stood up from the bed.
Luis walked straight to Deanna and gave her a soft look. “Did you take your nutrition pills?”
Deanna nodded like an obedient kitten. “I took the morning and noon ones.”
Luis held her hand and said smoothly, “The doctor said you need rest. You shouldn’t have people disturbing you all the time.”
Erik rolled his eyes. When did I
say
that?

Violet finally realized. Is this Alpha kicking people out?
Is he kicking me out?
She opened her mouth, but Erik cut her off.
“Violet, let’s go on a date.”
Violet shot him a look. “I don’t have time for a date. I have stuff to do.”
Erik just scooped her up and dragged her out.
“Come on. I want to go on a date.”
“Hey! No! I’m not done talking to Deanna!”
And just like that, Violet was dragged out of the room.
Deanna was speechless.
A quiet, warm stillness filled the hospital room. Now it was just the two of them.
Luis sat by the bed and studied her face carefully.

Her cheeks were rosier now, and her eyes were bright and clear. It made his heart soften.
His gaze darkened as he looked at her. Emotion stirred in his eyes. He lifted her slender hand and brushed her fingertips with a gentle bite.
A soft tickle ran through her chest, light as a feather.
Deanna’s lips curved. “Aren’t you busy at the company?”
“It’s fine.”
“Oh.”
She wanted to ask about the corporate summit, but she didn’t know how. If it weren’t for her, Luis wouldn’t be stressed at all.
Luis looked at her with a serious, low voice. “Deanna, once you’re discharged, let’s go to city hall and get married.”
Deanna blinked. “What? That fast?”

City hall was the most official place to register a werewolf bond.
A lot of werewolves even completed the Mark on the same day.

Luis smiled and lowered his gaze to her slightly rounded belly. His voice was deep and warm. “Your stomach is already getting big. You still think it’s fast?”
“Oh.”
“Do you not want to bond with me?”
He hooked a finger under her chin, making her look at him. His voice was lazy and teasing. “Even if you didn’t want to, it’s too late. You’re my Luna for life.”
Deanna’s cheeks warmed as she looked into his dark eyes.
He sounded so bossy.
“How can you be so pushy? You didn’t even propose. You just want to drag me straight to register?”
Luis smirked. “So you do want a proposal.”
He’d already been planning one–waiting for the Mooncrown Corporation’s corporate summit to end before surprising her.
Seeing her expression, he teased her again, interest lighting his eyes.
“So
…
what kind of proposal do you want?”
