Deanna's POV:

Evening fell.

When I left the company, I deliberately avoided the peak rush hour when employees were getting off work.

After spending the entire day at my own company being stared at by people who all seemed eager to interview me, my head was starting to ache.

If they saw the male lead of all the trending topics show up again, the gossip would probably flood the place.

I took the elevator down to the parking garage. At a glance, I saw the sleek black sports car and the figure leaning against it.

Luis stood there with one hand in his pocket, checking his phone. When he heard movement, he looked up at me.

Luis's POV:

Seeing Deanna, I turned off my phone and was about to walk over to her.

But she suddenly darted straight toward the car, brushing past me.

Before I could react, she had already opened the passenger door and sat down, the entire motion smooth and decisive.

I turned around and met her almond-shaped eyes through the window.

What was that about?

Was she still angry about the photo? So angry that she didn't even want to stand next to me?

That subtle sense of rejection from my mate made irritation stir in my chest.

I opened the driver's door and got in, unable to stop myself from complaining, "Why are you running like that? You look like a thief."

As if I were someone who couldn't be seen in public.

Deanna shot me a look, turned toward me, and propped herself against the center console. "Do you have something you didn't tell me? Confess now and I might go easy on you."

"That's not what I'm asking!" She looked annoyed, cheeks slightly puffed. "Why did you give me that 20 percent of Mooncrown Corporation's shares?"

She suddenly grabbed my tie and yanked me toward her. "Tell me—did you do this on purpose? Using those shares to make me feel guilty, to make me stop losing my temper, to make me obedient, grateful, and indebted to you?"
