Deanna's POV:

I could feel the hand of the man beside me tremble ever so slightly. It was so faint that I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been paying attention.

I reached out and gripped his hand tightly, slipping my fingers between his and intertwining them together.

"By blood and bond, the union is sealed."

The clerk handed one copy of the document to Luis and the other to me. His voice remained calm, yet it carried the weight of a ritual completed. "May Nyra guide your path."

Luis took the mate bond certificate and turned to me, extending his hand once more. This time, his smile was bright and warm, without a trace of shadow.

"Now, my Luna," he murmured, his eyes glittering like stars. "Let's go home."

We walked out of the solemn, quiet building together.

The afternoon sun poured down without reserve, carrying the crisp warmth unique to early autumn. I couldn't help but lower my head and open the elegant bond certificate in my hands again. I studied it carefully for a moment, finding it all so wonderfully surreal.

So this was it. We were officially bonded mates now?
