Watching the streaks of moisture on the screen, I couldn’t help but curse Jake under my breath again.

While I sat in the waiting area, my work phone buzzed inside my bag. Violet’s name flashed across the screen. I swiped to answer Violet, what’s up?

Girl, your personal phone’s been dead all day! I’ve been calling like crazy.

I glanced at my phone being repaired and sighed.

It broke. I’m getting it fixed. By the way, can I crash at your place tonight?

You can just head therethe maid is at home. Oh, I remember you were looking for Mr. Eaton from the Mooncrown Pack? Well, guess whathe’s at tonight gathering. If you haven’t found him yet, just come join us.”

The mention of Luis’s name caught me off guard.

I thought about the hickeys I used as a tool today and how I had told Jake my first time had been stolen by those rogues.

Suddenly, guilt twisted in my chest.

I cleared my throat quickly, steering the conversation away. It’s okay, no need. I already solved that problem. I’ll just wait for you at your place after you’re done tonight.

Fine,Violet started to say, but then a sharp cry burst through the phone, followed by her excited shout.

Oh my gosh! That was insane!

I thought something bad had happened and quickly asked, What’s wrong?

This Luis is so cool! He just dumped a drink all over Sarah, the second lead in my show! I’m going to check what happened.

Luis’s POV:

Tonight, I was dragged out by Chad Wilde, future Alpha of the Bloodcrown Pack.

Chad loves to party, and he parties wild.

He calls me out often, but I usually ignore him. The only reason I showed up tonight was because I was in a foul mood.

The flashing lights in the club only made my head pound harder.

I slouched on the couch, swirling my glass in boredom.

Chad sat beside me, spitting out endless talk about his new project.

I neither agreed nor refused.

His pack had old ties with mine, but truth be told, none of those in the younger generation knew a thing about running a business.

They’d lost money time after time, I wasn’t about to sink my money into his ridiculous schemes.

Just as I was drowning in boredom, my phone buzzed. It was Erik, sending me a photo.

When I opened it, my jaw tightened. The woman in the picture wore a white ceremonial dress. My grip on the phone tightened until my knuckles turned pale.

I zoomed in, staring hard at the face. No doubt about itit was Deanna.

Deanna!

You liar!

She told me it was just a onenight stand.

And she said things with Jake were over.

And now here she was, wearing a ceremonial gown. Who was she planning to have the ceremony with?

Jake?

Anger hit me like a storm, so sharp that even Griffin howled painfully in my head.

snapped out of the interface and called Deanna.

My call couldn’t go through.

The fear came fast, crushing the rage. I tried her number again.

Still nothing.

couldn’t sit still. Gripping my phone, I called Erik.

Where is she?

Erik’s mocking voice came from the other side.

Who exactly are you talking about?

Erik.My voice dropped hard. Do you want to keep that private hospital of yours, or not?

The sound of screeching brakes came through the line. When he spoke again, his voice was serious.

I was at LA Bridal Studio picking up jewelry for my cousin. Ran into Deanna trying on her ceremonial gown. Jake was with her.

Is that so?I narrowed my eyes, tapping my finger against the sofa arm.

You don’t actually like Deanna, do you?he teased.

I didn’t answer. Just hung up.

I was still thinking about how to deal with Deanna when the sofa beside me sank.

I glanced sideways. A woman in a pink dress sat there, her makeup flawless as she tried hard to pour out sweet, flattering Omega pheromones.

I remembered herSarah, the youngest daughter of the Alpha of Bloodcrown Pack.

The moment she sat, a few starlets near the dance floor glanced our way.

Sarah clearly enjoyed the attention. She carried two glasses of red wine and leaned in close, her voice sweet and sugary.

Mr. Eaton, I’m Sarah. Do you remember me?

I was already in a foul mood and had no patience for her. I started to get up, but she stepped in front of me, blocking my way.

Mr. Eaton, we met when we were kids. Just last week, I went shopping with your mother. She really likes me.

She was talking about my stepmotherthe woman who would do anything to drag me down from my Alpha seat.

I shot her an annoyed look.

She likes you. What’s that got to do with me?

I was done with her. I turned to walk away.

But Sarah grabbed my arm.

Mr. Eaton, don’t go. I still have so much to tell you.

Her fingers were about to touch my sleeve when I yanked my arm back, disgusted. Get away from me.

She lost her balance with a startled cry and fell onto the sofa. The wine glass slipped from her hand, red liquid splashing across her own dress.

Sarah!Chad shoved aside the starlet clinging to him and rushed over.

Mr. Eaton, what happened? Did Sarah do something wrong? She’s told me since we were kids how much she liked you. Maybe she ust got too excited seeing you today. Please don’t take it the wrong way.

My patience had already run out.

On another day, I might have saved his pride, but not tonight.

You and your sister have embarrassed your pack. One of you throws yourself at me, the other wastes his life chasing skirts. No wonder your pack is falling apart.

The whispers around us grew louder, but I didn’t care. I turned and walked straight out the door.
