Chapter 342
Chapter 342
Reven’s POV
“Ethan” I screamed after him.
કેવી
My voice tore out of my throat, raw and desperate, carrying everything I had lost and everything I still hoped for.
He stopped.
Slowly, as though the world itself had paused to watch, he turned to face me.
The moment our eyes met, my heart slammed violently against my ribs. Pain, love, grief, and longing collided inside my chest until I could barely breathe.
After everything… after suffering, death, darkness, and endless nightmares
I was finally looking at my mate.
Ethan walked toward me, his expression unreadable, and before I could say another word, he pulled me into a tight hug.
That was all it took.
The moment his arms wrapped around me, I shattered.
A sob ripped out of me as I clung to him desperately, my fingers digging into his shirt like he might vanish if I loosened my grip.
I buried my face against his chest, inhaling deeply, greedily, terrified that if I didn’t breathe him in enough, this too would disappear.
He felt real.
Warm.
Solid.
Not a memory. Not a ghost.
“The kids…” I whispered, my voice trembling so badly it barely sounded like my own. “How are the kids?”
“They’re fine,” he said softly, his hand rubbing slow circles on my back. “They’re safe.”
Relief hit me so hard my knees almost buckled. I would have collapsed if he hadn’t been holding me.
“I want to see them,” I said quickly, fear already creeping in. “Please.”
“They’re sleeping,” he replied gently.

“That’s okay,” I rushed out. “I won’t wake them. I swear. I just want to see them. Just for a moment.”
He studied my face for a second, then nodded.
He took my hand and led me down the hallway. With every step, my heart pounded harder. Fear and hope twisted together so tightly inside me that I couldn’t tell which one was winning. I was terrified this wasn’t real and even more terrified that it was.
“Where have you been all this while?” he asked quietly as we walked.
“I’ll tell you,” I promised, tightening my grip on his hand. “I just need to see them first.”
He didn’t push. He didn’t demand answers.
He only nodded.
When we entered the children’s room, my breath caught painfully in my throat.
All three of them were asleep, curled beneath their blankets, their faces soft and peaceful. No fear. No pain. Just innocence and quiet breathing.
Tears blurred my vision as I stepped closer, my legs trembling. I knelt beside the bed and pressed a kiss to the first small forehead, then the second, then the third.
“I missed you,” I whispered, my voice breaking completely. “I missed you so much.”

My chest ached so deeply it felt like my heart was tearing open, but for the first time in so long, the pain wasn’t sharp.
It was warm.
It was gentle.
It was love.
“Finally,” I murmured, smiling through tears as peace settled over me. “I can be with you again. I can join you… in the afterlife.”
I straightened slowly and looked at Ethan.
He smiled at me.
And in that moment, I knew.
This was where I belonged.
Then everything shattered.
My eyes flew open.
Blinding white light burned into my vision as agony exploded through my body. A scream tore from my

throat before I could stop it. Every nerve screamed in protest as though I had been dragged violently from somewhere I wasn’t meant to leave.
My limbs felt heavy, On fire. Broken.
I gasped for air and stared around in pure panic.
White walls.
Strange machines beeping softly.
The sharp, sterile smell of antiseptic.
A hospital.
“No,” I whispered hoarsely. “No… why am I here?”
My wolf stirred weakly inside me.
Welcome back.
}
My heart pounded violently. No, I argued desperately. I’m dead. I saw Ethan. I saw our children. I was with them.
You’re not dead, my wolf replied gently. That was a dream.
Shaking, I looked down at myself.
My body was covered in red, angry marks, swollen, inflamed, and painful. Every breath made them throb. I raised a trembling hand and pinched my cheek hard.
Pain.
Sharp. Real.
I was alive.
“No!” I screamed, my voice echoing through the room. “No!”
The door burst open immediately.
An elderly woman rushed in, her face full of concern, followed closely by him.
The Rough King.
“Are you alright?” the woman asked urgently.
“No!” I cried, tears spilling freely. “I want to go back! I saw them. I saw my family. Who brought me back here? Why did you bring me back?”
“Calm down,” the woman said softly. “Your body has been through a lot. You may have been

hallucinating.““No!” 1 sobbed. “I wasn’t hallucinating. I was there!”
“Leave us,” the Rough King ordered coldly.
The woman hesitated, then bowed and quietly left, closing the door behind her.
I turned on him, fury and grief crashing together violently. “Why did you save me?” I demanded. “Why bring me here to be treated? Didn’t you want me dead? You locked me in a room full of angry ants!”
“I’ve told you before,” he replied calmly, “I won’t kill you.
A bitter laugh tore out of me. “Then why?”
“What pleasure would it be if you died so easily?” he said coldly. “I wanted your death to be slow. Painful““You’re a monster,” I spat. “No wonder Alpha Ethan destroyed you.”
He laughed darkly. “And that is exactly why I came back. For revenge.”
He waved a hand dismissively. “Enough. I’ve decided to suspend your punishment for now.”
“I don’t need your kindness,” I snapped. “Go on. Keep punishing me. I know I’ll die someday–and when I do, I’ll finally be with my family. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
He studied me intently. “Do you truly believe you’ll see them in the afterlife?”
“Yes,” I said without hesitation.
He shook his head, muttering something under his breath I couldn’t hear.
“There’s something I need to tell you,” he said.
I frowned. “Go ahead.”
“After Alpha Ethan did what he did to me, I swore I would avenge my family. When I kidnapped you, I planned to sell you to human traffickers.”
My breath hitched. “Then why didn’t you?”
“I don’t know,” he admitted quietly.
A hollow laugh escaped me. “Let me guess. You want to keep me here in case you need someone to use.”
His eyes hardened. “I don’t touch weak wolves. And besides, you have a mate.”
“The same mate you killed!” I screamed, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at him.
It hit his chest, but I didn’t care. Tears streamed down my face as I threw anything I could reach.
“I hate you!” I cried. “I hate you for killing him! I will never forgive you!”
He grabbed my wrists painfully. “Enough,” he growled. “Throw something at me again and I’ll break your

hands.”
“And for your mate,” he continued darkly, “I never”
A knock cut him off.
The door opened, and a guard bowed. “My lord, the council is waiting.”
He stared at me for a long moment, his eyes unreadable, then turned and walked out, never finishing his
sentence.
