Chapter 343
Chapter 343
Reven’s POV
I stared at the empty hospital room, my skin burning and swollen from the ant bites that covered my arms and legs like a cruel reminder of everything I had endured.
The sheets beneath me were stained with sweat and dried blood, my body aching in places I did not even want to name.
I clenched my fists.
In my mind, I cursed the Rough King.
I cursed his cruelty, his pride, his twisted sense of justice. But worse than the pain crawling under my skin was the ache in my chest, the ache that came from remembering my dream.
The dream that had felt too real.
I squeezed my eyes shut, and it came back to me again, vivid and cruel.
Ethan.
My mate.
His eyes had been filled with pain so raw it had almost shattered me. In the dream, he was standing among ashes and ruin. his shoulders slumped, his wolf howling with grief.
He had looked at me like I was the last thing holding him together.
And I had felt it.
His pain.
His regret.
His guilt.
A sob tore out of my chest.
“I wish it wasn’t a dream,” I whispered brokenly to the empty room. “I wish you were really looking at me like that?
Tears streamed down my face as I curled into myself.
The pain in Alpha Ethan’s eyes in that dream had felt real too real to ignore. And that pain alone was enough to fuel the fire burning inside me.
Revenge.
Cold. Calculated. Necessary.
If the Rough King thought he could destroy lives and walk away untouched, then he was mistaken.
Very wrong.
I wiped my tears with the back of my hand and sat up slowly, ignoring the way my wounds screamed in protest. My wolf

stirred uncasily inside me.
Do you really think this will work smoothly? She asked, her voice cautious, wary.
I inhaled deeply.
“Why wouldn’t it?” I murmured back. “I’m desperate. Desperation makes people invisible.
My plan was simple.
I would leave the hospital.
Find my way back to the pack house.
Prepare lunch for the Rough King.
And add just a little substance–nothing lethal. Just enough to weaken his wolf, make him cough blood, and make everyone think he was dying.
Chaos would erupt.
And in that chaos, I would run.
I would find a way back to my pack.
Back to Ethan.
My wolf growled softly. Plans never go as planned.
I swung my legs off the bed.
“I don’t have a choice,” I said firmly.
Ignoring the pain, I stood up, steadied myself, and walked toward the door.
The hospital corridor was quiet, the scent of antiseptic thick in the air. At the waiting area, a she saw me.
“Miss, why are you discharging yourself?” she asked, frowning.
arply when
I forced a weak smile onto my face and pressed a hand to
my
stomach.
“I just… I need to use the bathroom,” I said softly. “I’ve been holding it for too long.”
The nurse hesitated, then pointed toward the exit.
“Go outside, turn left. Don’t wander too far.”
Perfect.
“Thank you,” I said sincerely, dipping my head.
I walked out of the hospital doors, the sun blinding me for a moment. Freedom brushed against my skin like a whisper.
I asked around cautiously, keeping my head low, my voice polite. Step by step, question by question, I found my way back to the pack house.

Chapter 343
By the time reached my small room, my body was trembling from exhaustion.
1 bathed quickly, biting my lip as water burned my wounds. When I rubbed ointment over them, the pain was sharp and unforgiving, but I endured it.
Pain was temporary.
Freedom was everything.
I dressed in my maid’s uniform, staring at my reflection for a brief moment.
“You can do this,” I whispered.
The kitchen was already busy when I arrived.
And then I saw her.
The maid.
The same one who had told me to take the Rough King’s food to his study the lie that had almost cost me my life.
I walked toward her slowly.
“Why did you give me false information?” I asked calmly.
She turned, her eyes filled with open disdain.
“Isn’t it obvious?” she sneered. “I hate you.”
I raised an eyebrow. “And why is that? Last time I checked, I didn’t have a problem with you.”
She scoffed bitterly.
“I’ve been applying to be the Rough King’s personal maid for years,” she snapped. “Years! And they kept rejecting me. Then you show up without even applying–and suddenly you’re his maid.”
Understanding dawned on me.
“Oh,” I murmured. “Now I see.”
I turned away, muttering under my breath, “Soon, you won’t even see your Alpha talk more of being his personal maid.”
“What did you say?” she demanded.
I ignored her.
I had work to do.
I learned quickly that the Rough King’s favorite meal was mashed potatoes and bacon.
Perfect.
I prepared it carefully, making sure it looked and smelled irresistible. When it was done, I added the substance quietly, my hands steady despite the storm raging inside me.
As I arranged the tray, a slow smile curved my lips.

Chapter #43
This was it.
I carried the food to his room.
I didn’t knock.
When I entered, he was sitting at his desk, shoulders shaking.
Crying.
He didn’t notice me at first.
I moved closer, my steps silent.
On his desk was a photo.
A repaired photo.
The same one I had accidentally broken in his study.
This was the first time since I arrived here that I had seen him like this: weak, shattered.
The woman and child in the picture stared back at me.
His family.
The family Alpha, Ethan, had been destroyed.
My chest tightened.
For a brief moment, I wanted to turn around. To walk away. To abandon everything.
But another voice whispered inside me.
You’ve come too far.
“Courage,” I muttered.
I tapped his shoulder.
He turned, shock flashing across his face. He dropped the photo instantly.
“What are you doing here?” he demanded. “Shouldn’t you be in the hospital?”
“I’m feeling better,” I replied calmly. “I decided to resume duty.”
His eyes narrowed.
“And why are you asking questions?” he snapped. “It’s none of your business.”
I tilted my head. “I just didn’t think the almighty Rough King cried alone in his room.”
“Watch your mouth,” he growled. “Drop the food and leave.”
I nodded obediently, placing the tray on the table.

A hand slammed around my neck.
I gasped, almady knowing who it was

Struggling for breath, I raped, “What is it?”
“You think I’m stupid?” he snarled, “You think I’m easy to fool?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I wheezed.
“Oh?” His grip tightened. “Trying to poison me?”
My eyes widened,
How did he know?
“You think I didn’t smell it?” he continued coldly, “You think my wolf wouldn’t sense it?”
Fear wrapped around my heart.
“I’ll let you go this time,” he said slowly. “But next time you try this…”
His eyes darkened.
“You will pay with your life,”
He released me abruptly.
1 collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.
