Chapter 371
Chapter 371
Reven’s POV
Three Months Later
I woke up to the sound of someone crying.

Not loud sobs, those broken, exhausted ones that came from someone who had already cried too much and had nothing left but quiet misery.
The sound felt distant, like it was reaching me from underwater.
My head throbbed.
No, throbbed wasn’t the word.
It felt like someone had split my skull open and stitched it back together wrong.
A sharp, blinding pain shot through my temples as I tried to move, and a weak groan slipped from my lips before I could stop it.
The crying stopped instantly.
A hand tightened around mine.
Warm. Shaking.
“Reven?” a voice whispered, trembling. “Reven… please open your eyes.”
The name felt wrong.
It echoed in my head like it belonged to someone else, someone far away.
I slowly forced my eyes open, then squeezed them shut again immediately.
The light was too bright.
Too white.
It burned.
I lifted my hand weakly, trying to shield my eyes, my fingers brushing against something cold and plastic
Panic surged through me as I realized there were thin strings attached to my hands no, not strings
Tubes
Wires.
Machines.
I opened my eyes again, this time squinting through the pain.
The ceiling above me was stark white, smooth, and unfamiliar.

A faint buzzing sound filled the room, steady and rhythmic. I turned my head slightly and immediately regretted it.
Pain exploded behind my eyes.
I cried out, my body shaking as my hands jerked instinctively, tugging against the tubes attached to me.
“Hey, hey, don’t move!” the voice said urgently. “Please, don’t move. You’ll hurt yourself.”
Hands gently but firmly held my wrists, stopping me.
I tried to pull away.
Fear crawled up my spine, icy and sharp.
“Let go of me!” I rasped, my throat dry, my voice hoarse like I hadn’t spoken in years.
The hands froze.
Slowly, they loosened their grip and pulled back.
I turned my head toward the person beside me, blinking through the pain and tears.
She was a girl no, a woman around my age. Her eyes were red and swollen, her face pale, and her lips trembling as if she was holding herself together by sheer will alone.
Then her face broke into something else entirely.
Joy.
Relief.
Pure, overwhelming emotion flooded her expression as she suddenly stood up and leaned over me, wrapping her arms around my upper body carefully but tightly.
“Oh, Reven,” she sobbed, burying her face against my shoulder. “You’re awake. You’re finally awake. I was so scared 1 thought, God, I thought you wouldn’t wake up.”
Her tears soaked into the thin fabric of my hospital gown.
My heart pounded wildly.
I stiffened.
“What–what are you doing?” I whispered, confusion and fear tangling together inside my chest.
She pulled back slightly, still holding onto me, her hands gripping my arms like she was afraid I’d disappear if she let go.
“I’m so sorry,” she cried. “I’m so sorry for everything you went through because of me. You shouldn’t have taken the bullet for me. I should have been the one-”
Bullet?
My breath caught.
“What…?” I whispered.

She froze.
Her eyes searched my face desperately, her smile faltering.
“Reven?” she said carefully. “Do you… do you remember me?”
I stared at her.
Really looked at her.
I didn’t recognize her.
Not her face.
Not her voice.
Not her name because I didn’t even know her name.
Fear surged hot and fast.
“How do you know my name?” I demanded weakly. “Who are you?”
Her face drained of color.
“What?” she whispered. “No, no, Reven, stop. You know me. It’s me.”
I shook my head, my pulse racing.
“I don’t know you,” I said, my voice rising. “Get away from me.”
She reached for me again instinctively, panic flashing across her features.
“Please,” she begged. “You’re just confused. You’ve been asleep for so long.” “Get off me!” I screamed.
I shoved her with what little strength I had.
She wasn’t expecting it.
She stumbled backward and fell hard onto the floor with a startled cry.
The sound echoed in the room.
Silence followed.
I stared at her, my chest heaving, shock flooding through me.
She sat there on the floor, staring up at me with wide, hurt eyes, tears spilling freely now.
Guilt stabbed at me immediately.
“I-“My voice faltered. “I didn’t mean to “But fear overpowered the guilt.
“Don’t come close to me,” I warned shakily. “I don’t know you We’re not friends”
Her lips trembled violently.

“No,” she whispered. “That’s not true. Reven, you know me. I’m Edna. We’re friends. We’ve always been friends.”
The name meant nothing.
Nothing at all.
“I’ll break your head if you come any closer,” I snapped, panic making me cruel. “You’re not my friend. And my name isn’t Reven.”
She flinched like I’d struck her.
Her voice broke completely. “What… what are you saying?”
“My name,” I said slowly, my head pounding, “is Mira.”
The word felt right the moment it left my lips.
Like the only solid thing in a world that suddenly didn’t make sense.
Edna shook her head violently. “No. No, that’s not–Reven, listen to me. You’ve been in a coma for three months. Three months. After the rough attack. You were shot in the head—”
“I don’t know anything,” I cried. “Just leave me alone. Please.”
My hands trembled uncontrollably.
The room suddenly felt too small. Too loud. Too close.
The door opened abruptly.
A woman dressed in a white gown stepped inside, her expression alert and calm. She took in the scene–the girl on the floor, my frantic state, the tangled wires–with trained eyes.
The noise must have drawn attention.
She walked toward me quickly but gently.
“It’s okay,” she said soothingly. “You’re safe. Please, try to calm down.”
I shook my head wildly. “Tell her to leave. I don’t know her. She keeps calling me by a name that isn’t mine.”
The woman turned to Edna. “I need you to step outside for now.”
Edna hesitated, her eyes never leaving me.
“But”
“Please,” the nurse said firmly but kindly
Edna swallowed hard, slowly standing up. She wiped her face with shaking hands, her gaze filled with heartbreak as she looked at me one last time.
“I’ll come back,” she whispered. “You’ll remember. I know you will.”
Then she left.

The door closed softly behind her
The room felt unbearably quiet.
The woman in white sat down carefully on the edge of my bed.
“My name is Nurse Lina,” she said gently. “You don’t need to be afraid of me. I’m not going to hurt you.”
I nodded slowly, my heart still racing.
