Seeing frost spread all over the room, Gillian finally understood why Merrick had begged her not to reveal he was her spouse.

“Ms. Locke…”

A ruthless smile spread across Elara’s face. “So the child you carry belongs to Black Rick?”

“Please calm down, Ms. Locke. I was exposed to heat powder back then, and he helped me/clear the toxin. It is not entirely his fault.”

“Heat powder? He had no other choice?”

Elara grew even angrier upon hearing this. Her icy power was so strong that it froze and cracked parts of the ceiling.

“That male clearly possesses effective antidotes. He cured himself easily when we were framed last time. He must have spare doses kept in secret.”

Elara already saw Merrick as a doomed man. She softened her expression for fear of frightening Gillian. then held her hand and spoke in a patient tone.

“He only took advantage of your vulnerable state. We cannot stay here any longer. I will take you away right away.”

“Wait a moment.”

Gillian felt overwhelmed by all these sudden truths, her face turning pale. “Merrick really has antidotes for heat powder? Can this poison be fully cured?”

“He indeed does. Such a male is never worth your devotion. Come away with me.”

Elara was truly enraged. She never imagined Merrick would scheme and lay traps to harm her younger sister.

“I will go with you eventually, but I need to sort out two matters first. One is to fully confirm our blood ties, and the other is to get clear details about my bond with Merrick.”

The two females let go of each other’s hands at the same time and sent messages via their wrist terminals.

Elara texted, “Black Rick, how dare you lay a hand on my younger sister!”

Gillian sent a message. “Grandma, I found my biological elder sister.”

Merrick felt a splitting headache, knowing the overprotective elder sister had found out everything.

“Where did you get an elder sister by blood?” Mabel replied.

Mabel jumped to her feet the instant she read Gillian’s message.

She trembled with excitement after seeing the two paternity reports and quickly initiated a video call

“Gillian, is Elara truly your elder sister? I only took you in when I visited the 8th Legion twenty years ago

“Your father was only registered to have one child under his name. Where did this elder sister come from

“Her age does not match. He secretly married Victoria and had you when he was twenty-seven.

There was a six-year age gap between the two sisters, which did not add up logically at all.

Mabel looked extremely anxious yet spoke in a clear and organized manner.

“Grandma, I have always wondered this. Did father date anyone or have another companion when he was twenty-two?”

Gillian coughed softly. She was also puzzled about this, but before she could finish speaking, Elara tapped her lightly on the head.

“Do not speak casually of father’s past. We are full siblings with identical parents.”

Gillian froze for a moment.

Mabel suddenly recalled old memories and looked excitedly at the two girls.

“That is right. Your father once had a beloved lover in his early twenties, who vanished without a trace later on. He sank into deep depression for years afterward. Could that person be Victoria?”

Elara nodded softly with a gentle smile.

“Yeah, Grandma. They missed each other in their youth and reunited again years later in Wasteland City. I was only five years old when I first met my dad.”

Elara pulled her hand away from Gillian’s head. Seeing her wince slightly, she felt a little regretful.

“Did that hurt? Your head is still too tender. I could… Never mind.”

She stopped talking halfway and gently rubbed Gillian’s head instead.

“What were you about to say?” Gillian hated unfinished sentences more than anything else.

“I could easily knock people like you out with one punch back in Capital Planet.”

Both Gillian and Mabel were stunned. They had worried she had been bullied before, yet it turned out she was always the tough one.
