Chapter 200 Three Systems

Chapter 200 Three Systems

Gillian nodded. She knew Merrick had already locked the source under heavy surveillance

Dominic’s confirmation told Freya and Elara the information was real, but where had Gillian gotten it from?

“Freya, I had a thought. What if we pooled all three top systems together and used them to estimate the data on the taint source?”

The idea hadn’t come out of nowhere. The White Griffin alone couldn’t manage it, but with the Blue Phoenix and the Cryolotus added in?

Freya studied her youngest sister. “How do you plan to do that?”

“I want to find out whether I can control the Blue Phoenix and the Cryolotus too. We share the same DNA. after all. If it works, I can take all three top systems straight to the taint core most likely to blow and get a real look inside it.”

“No.”

Faced with everyone refusing in unison, Gillian waved both hands at once.

“Hey, hey, ease up, everyone. I’m just floating a hypothesis. Maybe it won’t even pan out.”

Elara’s first reaction was a flat refusal.

Then a jolt ran through her, and she had to admit Gillian had a point.

Gillian was a cleric. She could purge the taint. The babies inside her could absorb even more powerful

purges.

If she could command all three systems, she’d be the best possible person for the job. No one else came

close.

Elara had clawed her way out of more life-or-death situations than she could count, all on instincts like that.

She unhooked the Cryolotus metal core from her own wrist and pressed it into Gillian’s palm.

“Try it.”

“Elara, you’re really going to let me try?”

Gillian felt the chill against her palm and finally took a good look at the Cryolotus core.

It wasn’t as striking as the White Griffin, but the milky white metal had its own beauty.

A light touch coaxed pale petals into bloom around it, and a closer look revealed delicate threads of blue rippling inside. Was that Blue Phoenix data?

Chapter 200 Three Systems

Elara, have you lost your mind? Going along with Gillian on this nonsense! She’s pregnant How can she possibly head into the end of the taint!”

Freya stood up. She suddenly felt she had been too quick on the draw earlier. Elara was indulging Gillian way too much.

Elara knew Freya didn’t yet know the secret Gillian carried.

Elara tapped quickly on her wrist terminal, then gestured for Freya to look at what she had just sent over

“Read this and you’ll understand why I’m letting Gillian try. She’s grown up. A lot of the time, she’s stronger than the two of us.”

Freya swallowed her unease and chose to trust Elara.

After all, the one Freya knew best in this universe was herself, and Elara was another version of her.

Gillian hadn’t expected Elara to back her this hard, even talking Freya down for her.

Her eyes dropped to the Cryolotus terminal in her hand.

Golden psionic power slipped through her pink fingertip and pricked the skin. A single drop of blood landed on the cryogold, and the metal soaked it up in an instant.

On her side of the cabin, Freya quickly came back to herself after reading whatever Elara had sent.

In the end she said nothing. She just watched Gillian quietly, half hoping it would work, half hoping it wouldn’t.

Sylas and the others had no idea what was going on. Freya had flipped from sharp refusal to silence in the span of a minute.

They couldn’t manage Gillian anyway. The only thing left to do was wait for Merrick.

Gillian was getting impatient. Couldn’t the Cryolotus even read her DNA?

In the next breath, the Cryolotus unfurled a wash of white light around her.

Gillian plugged the Cryolotus into her own wrist terminal, and a massive ice lotus bloomed at her teet

“It worked, Elara. Though I can only access 80 percent of its functions.”

Gillian scanned through the access list and felt a flicker of disappointment. The little thing was stingy.

Freya, on the other hand, shot up out of her seat and turned to leave, as if covering for whatever had cracked in her composure. She tossed out a thin excuse on her way out. “I’m not feeling well. Let’s pick this up when Merrick gets here.”

Elara understood exactly how Freya was feeling. Happy and grieving at once, because the one heading into that dangerous place would be their youngest sister.
