Freya could feel the sorrow weighing heavily on Gillian’s heart. She pinched Lucian’s back subtly to signal him. “Those two were white griffins. They helped us escape danger and then left.”
Lucian caught her hint instantly and spoke up. “Finn, speed up. The commander is in grave danger.”
“Right! We were closing in on those foes earlier. The moment the commander saw you surrounded by griffins, Mrs. Cole, he sent us over to assist you at once.”
“What foes exactly?” Gillian’s tone turned sharp and serious. “Why did you activate the White Griffin System?”
“The mastermind behind the tainted metal incident is protected by a powerful wrist terminal system. Mrs. Cole. We had no choice but to activate the White Griffin System. It’s the only way to take them down.”
Lucian’s words tightened Gillian’s chest.
She began to wonder if the fall of the 9th Legion in her previous life stemmed from more than the ⚫ blackstone veins beneath Wilder Peak.
The highly disciplined, well-equipped space pirates were no accident.
What exactly had they come to the Wasteland to search for?
Or was Capital Planet intent on wiping out the entire Outer Wasteland?

Only the black griffin and black ape remained on the opposing side. The four foes immediately grew emboldened by their numerical advantage.
A four-versus-two fight was far from impossible for them.
“Black Rick is alone! The four of us can take him down together!”
The large and young golden lions roared fiercely. Their domineering auras made the goblin beastman and the gray rat grit their teeth with aggression.
“Take him out!”
“Teach him a lesson for his arrogance!”
The black griffin and black ape welcomed their unified attack.
Merrick charged straight at the massive golden lion.
The two towering beasts crashed into each other with full force.
The golden lion had assumed it could hold its ground evenly. But in truth, its body had long weakened from indulgence in fine food, wine, and luxury.

Chapter 89 Gillian’s Grief
One brutal collision left it blinded in one eye by Black Rick’s sharp fangs, drawing a shrill cry of pain
Fear crept over the golden lion, and it began to retreat.
Yet Black Rick fought like a tireless war machine. Another violent strike sent the beast flying.
He moved like a bloodthirsty shadow lurking in darkness. His sharp griffin horns sliced open the lion’ abdomen in an instant. Agony crippled the beast, leaving it unable to stand.
Meanwhile, the black ape moved with extreme agility. It swung its massive arms like heavy hammers.
It grabbed the young golden lion’s hind legs and slammed it hard into the ground, pinning Squeak flat and trapping him there.
The goblin darted forward, swinging its thick tail to lash violently at the black ape.
Adrian let out a fierce battle roar. He seized the goblin’s tail, spun it rapidly in circles until it was disoriented, then hurled it straight into the young golden lion and Squeak, who had struggled to his feet.
For all their bravado, the gap in strength was undeniable.
Fighting two against four, Merrick and Adrian not only held their ground but pushed their enemies into full retreat.
The young golden lion snarled in rage. “I’ll kill you both!”
The wounded elder golden lion, its abdomen split open, turned its head with great difficulty to look at its
son.
“Felix, run!”
“Father!”
Felix watched Black Rick clamp its jaws around his father’s neck, ready to tear him apart. He scrambled to his feet and charged at the black griffin.
His legs trembled uncontrollably the second he met Merrick’s gaze.
Still, he rushed forward, desperate to create a tiny opening for his injured father.
“Father, I’m coming to save you!”
“Felix, you’re no match for him! Run while you
can!”
Unfazed by the trivial challenger, the black griffin released the elder lion and pounced on the young one.
In two swift strikes, it pierced Felix’s throat. The young golden lion collapsed beside his father, barely clinging to life.
“Felix!”
