Adrian let out a soft cough. As far as he knew, the outstanding debts with the gray rat were far heavier than what Merrick owed the goblin.

“Put me down, Adrian. I will never take the blame for this mess today, even if I lose my life.”

The gray rat grew more furious by the second. He could accept being killed, yet he could not hold back h raging frustration any longer.

The sleek gray rodent kicked its legs wildly. The giant ape could barely hold it steady with both hands and had to grip its head tightly.

“Stay still, or I will crush your skull flat!”

It was far harder to restrain him.

Unable to break free, Squeak suddenly burst into loud cries. “You shameless brute, Black Rick! You sent payment to Leo?

“You first ordered fifty thousand pieces of nano metal worth five billion coins in total, yet you only paid half the final balance.

“Three days ago, you placed a second order for another hundred thousand pieces, which added up to ten billion coins in final payment.

“Leo only transferred one billion coins to me. You still owe me a total of eleven point five billion coins.”

Its round eyes blazed with burning anger as it finished speaking.

The goblin beastman touched the swollen bump on its head and spoke in a bitter tone.

“I have my own losses, too. You ordered a hundred sets of bio-armor from me. I could not finish the bulk work alone and passed part of the production to major workshops on Capital Planet. I even paid one hundred million coins out of my own pocket in advance! How could you lay hands on me? You have no conscience at all!”

The two merchants broke down completely, one weeping bitterly and the other shouting in grievance.

They once thought they had landed huge profitable deals, only to end up trapped in endless unpaid debts they could never collect.

“You killed Leo right before our eyes. We were counting on getting back some funds from him to keep our livelihoods going. Your legion troops matter, but our workers deserve fair treatment too.”

Squeak and the goblin hugged each other and cried helplessly.

“You two brought great trouble upon us. One type of your supplies nearly got my soldiers eaten alive by tainted beasts, and the other almost exposed my entire legion to taint infection.”

The black griffin stared at them with icy cold eyes.

“If all my one hundred thousand soldiers had perished, hordes of tainted beasts would have broken into your settlements the very next day and wiped out all your family members without mercy.”

Chills ran all over the gray rat and the goblin beastman the instant they heard those words.

“We had no idea Leo intended to set traps against you.”

The goblin beastman spoke with obvious unease and a guilty conscience.

“We are merely ordinary merchants running honest trades.”

The gray rat wiped away its tears. If it had known it would end up being hunted down by Black Rick, it would never have taken this business deal, no matter how tempting the profit was.

“I will count all those bio-armor sets as free gifts from me. Take them as my sincere apology.”

The goblin beastman rolled its eyes and tried to bargain for mercy. “I will wipe all your recorded debts once I get out of here. Can you spare my life?”

Squeak nearly suffered a heart attack on the spot. The goblin casually wrote off a hundred million coins’ worth of goods so easily, while it was stuck with over eleven billion coins in unpaid payments.

“I cannot afford to make such generous concessions. If I let go of this huge sum, all my subordinates will turn against me and tear me apart.”

Squeak slumped down onto the ground in despair, ready to accept death right away.

“You do not have to offer free goods, but you must supply the treatment metal to us at the original production cost.”

A soft and gentle female voice rang out from nearby.

A black tiger carried a graceful female figure and leaped out from thick bushes.

Her hair was cut short and fell neatly over her shoulders. Delicate brows held a hint of calm indifference. A faint smile played on her lips, hiding sharp, hidden danger beneath the sweet look.

“Gillian?”

The gray rat stared at the newcomer in utter surprise. “So, it’s you. I knew this name sounded extremely familiar to me all along.”

“It has been quite a while, Squeak.”

Gillian slid down from the tiger’s back and walked straight toward the black griffin. She faced Squeak calmly to start official negotiations.

“I know the actual production cost of treatment metal very well. We will never take advantage of you. We only ask for a fifty percent discount on this bulk order.”

Gillian had studied the internal structure of treatment metal before. She knew very few beastmen across

the entire Outer Planet could craft such sophisticated items, and Squeak’s clan was among the rare few capable of doing so.

“What status gives you the right to negotiate terms with me now?”

Squeak’s eyes sparkled with shrewd wit. It might lack the strength to stand against Merrick in fierce combat, yet business bargaining was its absolute field of dominance.

“Commander Cole, do I hold sufficient qualifications to talk business with him?”

Gillian tilted her head and glanced toward her partner.
