Chapter 92 The Deal

“Is that really true?”

Squeak glanced at the goblin hanging upside down in mid-air, still filled with deep doubt.

“If not, my one hundred thousand beastman troops will have nothing to eat. We will board our airships and head straight to your place for meals. I remember the canteen food at your firm tastes pretty good. W can start our daily dinners there from today onwards.”

Squeak ground his teeth in sheer fury, feeling utterly bullied and wronged.

He had long known what kind of person Black Rick was.

The couple was both unreasonable deadbeats.

“White griffin, draft a formal contract for me. State the finalized price of treatment metal, along with exac payment amounts and due dates.”

The massive white griffin materialized beside Gillian at once.

It carried a colder aura than Merrick’s stern presence, making it plain to see that it was essentially a functional wrist terminal system.

Adrian stared in shock. “Commander, this is the White Griffin Wrist Terminal, right? Why does it obey Mrs. Cole so readily?”

Merrick softened his gaze gently. Naturally, because my spouse is outstanding.

Adrian fell speechless instantly. He knew there was no point in reasoning with someone utterly devoted to their partner, so he chose to drop the topic.

The contract was finished in no time. After going over all the clauses, Squeak let out a cold snort. “You might as well say your descendants will settle the debts someday.”

The document clearly stated that the previous batch of fifty thousand pieces of treatment metal had caused fifty thousand legion beastmen to be infected with the taint. All outstanding payments for that batch were written off as medical compensation for the affected troops.

Half of the remaining one hundred and twenty-five billion coin debts would be paid off by the 9th Legion within three full years.

The final clause drew Squeak’s full attention.

Once the Wasteland City Trade StarNet opened within three years, his clan would gain priority access at half the standard cooperative cost. Both parties were forbidden to harm each other for any reason once the contract took effect, or they would suffer instant death from shattered primal cores.

Squeak could not help wondering what profitable trades could ever take place in Wasteland City. How could that dangerous land known for spreading the taint bring steady benefits?

He finally agreed to sign the deal, simply to secure his own survival. In his eyes, he was basically spending eighty billion coins to buy his own life.

“It is settled then.”

Gillian reached out to shake hands with him. The written contract dissolved into wisps of psionic power, split into two equal parts, and merged into their bodies respectively.

A golden star-shaped mark appeared on both of their wrists, marking the official activation of the agreement.

In the next moment, Squeak vanished completely from the Trial Forest.

Gillian turned toward the goblin beastman still suspended by golden silk threads.

Without a single extra word, she lashed out fiercely. The goblin let out a shrill wail. Though its hide was naturally tough, the sharp strike sent violent shudders through its whole body.

“You tried to ambush me now, didn’t you? This blow will serve as a proper lesson.”

Sharp lashes landed one after another.

The more strikes it endured, the redder its skin grew until its whole body looked flushed bright crimson.

No one noticed its face blushing as well. As Gillian prepared to strike again, Merrick stepped forward to stop her.

He held her hand tenderly with a helpless look. “Stop it, Gillian. This creature actually enjoys such

treatment.”

The suspended goblin soon looked toward her with a bashful expression.

“Gorgeous female, why not break your bond with Black Rick and stay with me instead? I own far more wealth than him. I have tougher skin, and I know better how to cherish and dote on you.”

Silence fell among all onlookers the instant those words left its mouth.

Right then, the white griffin popped up beside Gillian once more.

“This trial arena is drawing to an end. Two hostile targets still remain alive. Eliminate them swiftly. Gillian’s team has earned 20 points, which grants one free lucky draw chance.”

“Two left?”

Gillian glanced at the restrained goblin, then spotted another motionless figure lying on the ground.

She soon realized it was the limbless golden lion and easily guessed its true identity.

“Is that the young man?”
