Jonathan and Vera had returned. It was just past nine o'clock, which was considered an early night for them.

Jules was sprawled over the table looking frustrated, spinning his pen one second and tearing at his hair the next, completely unable to sit still. But the moment Clara shot him a cold glare, he immediately behaved.

Ethan sat obediently in the corner, tracing characters stroke by stroke, completely engrossed in his writing practice.

Seeing this scene, Jonathan felt a deep sense of gratification.

He thought back to many years ago, when Pearl was still alive. The children used to be this harmonious.

Every day when he and Pearl came home from the office, the older sister would be leading her little brothers in games or helping them with homework. The house had always been filled with laughter.

"What are you thinking about, Jonathan?"

Vera's voice pulled him from his memories.

She smiled brightly. "Clara has been back for a while now. I was just thinking about organizing a welcome banquet for her. What do you think?"

Jonathan nodded. "I was thinking the exact same thing."

"Let's host it at the biggest five-star hotel in Springfield. We can invite all our old friends from the social circle so everyone can officially meet the eldest daughter of the Lambert family," Vera said with utmost generosity.

Jonathan nodded continuously, highly approving of her arrangement.
