Clara set her pen down.
She looked up toward Vera.
She saw the beaming, affectionate smile plastered on Vera's face—exactly the same look she had worn in her past life.
The only difference was that in her past life, this banquet had been her coming-of-age party, held right after her final exams.
It was this exact banquet that had destroyed her reputation, forcing her into a miserable marriage with absolute scum and ruining the best years of her life.
She smiled brightly. "That sounds wonderful. It'll be a great opportunity to catch up with some childhood friends."
Vera suppressed the venom in her eyes and smiled back. "Your father and I are planning to host it at The Plaza. Do you have any suggestions?"
The Plaza. The name of that hotel was far too familiar.
On that fateful day in her past life, it was the place that stripped her of all her pride and honor.
"I have no objections," Clara said obediently. "I'll leave all the arrangements to you and Dad."
After speaking, she didn't spare Vera another glance, lowering her head to seriously correct Jules's pronunciation.
Jules had zero interest in learning a foreign language, but with Jonathan standing nearby watching them, he had to pretend he was fully invested.
After an agonizing hour of stalling and struggling, Jules finally managed to memorize ten words. As for the three math problems... Clara had lowered the difficulty to a fourth-grade level, making Jules and Ethan race to solve them. Whoever finished first got to go to bed.
Jules, being the older one, absolutely refused to lose face in front of his younger brother, so he painstakingly forced out the step-by-step solutions...
"Alright, go upstairs and sleep."
Clara clapped her hands, grabbed her study materials, and headed upstairs.
