The night deepened.

The man had fallen fast asleep on the soft, plush bed.

Clara was too exhausted to even be angry anymore. She walked over, gently pulled the covers over him, grabbed her pajamas, and headed into the bathroom to shower.

The balcony window hadn't been locked in time. The night breeze blew in, sending the curtains fluttering wildly in the air.

A figure landed completely silently on the balcony.

Clara had excellent hearing, but the shower was running at full blast. The rushing water completely masked the sound of the footsteps, so she had no idea someone had slipped into her room.

The intruder was Gavin.

He was originally supposed to accompany his boss to the Lambert estate, but Theodore had given him a last-minute errand, so he couldn't come along.

After finishing the task, he had waited at home the entire day, but his boss never returned. Most concerning of all, Theodore wasn't answering his phone.

Gavin knew immediately that his boss must have relapsed.

Left with no other options, he had stealthily broken into the Lambert estate.

When he saw his boss sleeping peacefully on the bed, he let out a massive sigh of relief.

He tiptoed over, planning to haul Theodore over his shoulder and carry him home while he was still unconscious.

However, the second his hand brushed against Theodore's shoulder, the man's eyes snapped open.

Those dark eyes instantly filled with pure terror. "Bad guy! You're a bad guy! You're the one who knocked me out and dragged me into that car last time! You made me miss Clara!"

Gavin desperately wanted to cover his mouth, but he didn't dare.

Instead, he whispered frantically, "Sir, it's me, Gavin. I'm your assistant and bodyguard. I'm just here to take you home..."

"You're a bad guy!" Theodore tumbled out of bed and scrambled frantically toward the bathroom. "Clara, help! A bad guy is trying to catch me! Waaah, save me!"

Clara had just lathered herself up with body wash and was covered head to toe in foam.
