Chapter 16 I Reject You as My Mate
Laila’s POV:
“This is outrageous!”
Tobias thundered. “Safekeeping? This is highway robbery! You’re forcing Laila to dissolve the mate bond with Holt so that Maris can be the only Luna! And now you want to seize 70% of her fortune! Have you no shame?”
I turned to look at Holt. “What do you say? Do you agree with them taking 70% of my assets?”
“Fifty percent!” Holt turned his head, avoiding my gaze. “You can take half of your fortune. I’ll hold onto the rest for you. If you ever need it in the future, you can come back for it anytime.”
Tobias was livid. “Fifty percent? How dare you even say that! When Laila married you, she brought a hundred–million–dollar fortune into the Ironclaw Pack. Now you’re not only abandoning her, you’re stealing tens of millions from her! How can you stand there with a straight face?”
“I said…”
Holt released his Alpha dominance, his voice turning icy. “I’m only keeping 50% of her assets, and it’s temporary. If she ever needs it, I’ll give it back! I’m not stealing her money.
“After the mate bond is dissolved, I’ll also assign a squad of guards to protect Laila and keep her safe from Rogues.”
As he spoke, he waved his hand. A Beta stepped forward, presenting a document with both hands.
“Laila, this is the contract to dissolve the mate bond. Take a look.”
“Fine.”
I took it and scanned through it. It was indeed a dissolution contract written by Holt himself.
“I hope that if you ever take another mate in the future, you’ll stop playing these games. Treat people with sincerity, and you’ll find happiness!”
Holt said coldly.
I didn’t bother arguing. I just nodded. “Thank you, Alpha, for teaching me how to be a better person!”
