Chapter 189 Junior
Chapter 189 Junior
Third–person POV:
Samuel simply kept smiling.
Laila squinted. “You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?”

He finally spoke, but he deliberately changed the subject. “By the way, have you taken Raymond to see Mr. Songler yet?”
Laila stared at him. “You’re changing the topic. So that means-
“You’re my junior?”
Samuel’s handsome face stiffened slightly. He quickly turned his head away, stubbornly defending himself. “I’m not technically an official student of Moonlight Academy. Ms. Livingston said I didn’t need to enroll formally. I’m just her personal student.”
Laila laughed, her starry eyes sparkling. “Dear junior, you’re just fooling yourself. Ms. Livingston is the academy’s dean. If you’re her student, how are you not a student of Moonlight Academy? By the way, when exactly did you join her?”
Samuel’s mouth twitched. He stubbornly tried to steer the conversation away again. “We were just talking about taking Raymond to visit Mr. Songler. When are you planning to go?”
Laila rested her chin on her hand and blinked at him. “Dear junior, Raymond and I will go tomorrow.”
For some reason, ever since she learned he was also a student of Moonlight Academy, Laila seemed far more relaxed around him. She even acted mischievously toward him.
Samuel rolled his eyes at her. “I’m older than you.”
“Yep, you’re indeed older than me,” Laila replied cheerfully. Now she finally understood why he had never explained things clearly before, only saying he visited Moonlight Academy every year. It turned out he was actually the infamous she–devil’s student, and he had joined later than she had.
That was normal. Back in Vagen, how could he possibly call her senior in front of the entire army?
Still, there were only soldiers and commanders on the battlefield–no seniors and juniors.
Samuel felt extremely dissatisfied. His combat skills were better. He was older too. So how had he ended up being the junior?
Besides, he had only become Greer’s student privately outside the academy. She had even said he didn’t need to register as a student.
But when he saw her bright, playful smile, like the passionate girl in red she had been back at Moonlight Academy, he let it slide. Fine. It was nothing to be treated as her junior.
Just don’t call me that in public,” he muttered. He still had his pride.

Laila’s eyes curved with laughter. The beauty mark beneath her eye looked especially vivid, making her breathtakingly beautiful. Samuel couldn’t tear his gaze away.
Laila was too busy laughing to notice the emotions churning in his eyes. He was trying hard to suppress his feelings.
Samuel cleared his throat and brought the conversation back to something serious. “When the time comes, most of the mentors and students from Moonlight Academy will attend our mating ceremony. Aerith has already announced it to the entire academy. I’m guessing quite a lot of people will show up!
“Alright, I understand…” Laila nodded, but she suddenly felt her cheeks growing warm.
In the past, whenever she thought about the mating ceremony, she had always felt calm. After all, it was just a marriage of convenience. As long as they could live peacefully afterward, that was enough.
But after everything that had happened with Raymond, she had started paying more attention to Samuel. Sometimes, when she looked at him and thought about how he would soon become her mate, a faint sense of anticipation would quietly rise in her heart.
It was completely different from how she had felt when she was about to marry Holt.
When Samuel noticed her cheeks and even the tips of her ears suddenly flushing, he remembered she had told Raymond before that she liked him.
Could there be at least a little truth in that statement?
Of course there could.
Why?
