Laila had no choice but to accept her kindness.

Before leaving, Margaret said, “Laila, I like you very much. When you have time, visit us more often. Or I can come to Silvermoon Pack to see you.”

It was a clear signal that the two packs would remain connected.

Laila understood that this was not simple flattery or an attempt to gain favor.

Blackrock Pack was an ancient noble house with a history of more than a century. Many of their

descendants served in the royal palace. Some commanded the royal guard while others advised the crown.

A family with that kind of background had no reason to curry favor with anyone.

Still, it was always better to have more friends than enemies. Besides, the necklace had created a bond between them.

Laila smiled, and she personally escorted her out. “It is my honor to receive your kindness.”

After Margaret left, Laila walked to the backyard lawn.

It had been her mother’s favorite place. On bright afternoons, her mother would shift into her wolf form, lie across the grass, and nap under the sun with her eyes half closed.

“It is the blood of your five brothers.” Martha’s voice was soft, yet the words struck her hard. “Your mother said it means that wherever they go, they will always protect you and never allow anyone to bully you.”

Laila froze in place.

“Try covering them with your scent,” Martha gently suggested. “When your mother designed this necklace, she made it so only your scent could awaken it.”

Laila took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and slowly released her unique scent.

The moment the first sapphire was surrounded by it, an image appeared before her.

Her eldest brother stood under the morning sun wearing the robe she remembered so clearly. He smiled at her as if telling her not to be afraid.

Her heart ached.

Her scent moved toward the second stone.

Elias‘ figure appeared as he wiped his sword before lifting his head and winking at her, just like when they teased each other as children.
