Margaret looked slightly uncomfortable. “But when I brought the necklace home, I realized my custom order was supposed to have four sapphires, yet this one has five. It obviously wasn’t the one I requested. I sent someone to Bellgari to check, and that’s when I found out the designer responsible for my piece had disappeared and even took my necklace with him.
“As for this necklace, it was actually commissioned by your mom. She planned to keep it for you and present it as a wedding gift once you found your mate. The staff at Bellgari didn’t say anything at the time because other customers were there, and they didn’t want to expose the scandal of their designer running off with jewelry. They wanted to visit the Blackrock Pack the next day to explain, but I sensed something strange and sent someone ahead. That’s when I learned the truth.”
Laila paused in shock.
So this… was the wedding gift her mother prepared for her?
“Laila, once I understood everything. I immediately returned the necklace and asked Bellgari to give it back to your mom. But they told me she had already chosen another piece. Then she sent word saying that since I liked this necklace, she would let me keep it.
“I think she probably felt that since I had already worn it, it wouldn’t be appropriate to give it to you as your wedding gift, so she never asked for it back.”
Margaret finished speaking but still looked uneasy. “It’s not such a big matter, yet it weighed on my mind for years. And later your family… Anyway, I hope you won’t mind that I once wore this necklace. Please take it. It was always meant to be the wedding gift your mom prepared for you.
“But I swear by the Moon that once I found out it was made especially for you, I never wore it again.”
Laila didn’t care about that part at all.
Her eyes fixed on the necklace. Her fingers followed its shape and gently touched the five surrounding
stones.
Suddenly, she remembered her mom once telling her that a special wedding gift had already been prepared. When she found her mate, she would receive it on the day of the mating ceremony.
Back then. Laila laughed and asked how special it was.
Her mother replied. “It has a special meaning. Your five brothers will always stand beside you and protect you for the rest of your life.”
Later, when Laila sorted through the wedding gifts, she saw many pieces of jewelry but never the necklace her mother had mentioned.
Of course she didn’t ask about it because every time her mother spoke of her brothers she would start crying. Laila could never bring herself to raise the subject.

Margaret added, “Coincidentally, I heard you and Prince Vance are engaged. This necklace was the wedding gift your mother ordered for you. It arrived late…”
She paused and looked at Laila carefully.
“But perhaps it isn’t late after all. Perhaps it came exactly when it should.”
Laila stood and bowed deeply to Margaret, and her eyes turned red. “Thank you. Whether you wore it before or not, this gift means everything to me. I’m truly grateful. Please tell me how much it cost and I will repay you.”
Seeing the redness in Laila’s eyes, Margaret understood her emotions.
A wedding gift from her late mother had returned to her just before her mating ceremony. Yes, the timing felt perfect.
Margaret suddenly felt relieved. At last the weight in her heart liftedkilling
“Give me one dollar and buy this necklace back.”
Laila blinked in confusion. “One dollar? I can’t…”
“Hear me first, Laila.” Margaret raised her hand to stop her. “I cannot simply give you this necklace. According to the Blackrock Pack’s tradition, gifting something that belonged to the dead brings bad luck with it. But if you purchase it, then it is different. The bad luck will not follow.”
Laila was stunned.
