Chapter 196 For Laila
Third–person POV:
A month passed quickly.
That day, after Rowan finished Raymond’s examination, she asked for Laila to come over.
“Ms. Sagewood, are you planning to repair Raymond’s leg today?”
“Yes.”

Rowan nodded. “After this period of treatment, I’ve noticed his recovery is better than I predicted. The swelling in his throat has also reduced a lot. He’s getting closer to speaking again.”
“Really?” Laila’s eyes brightened. “That’s wonderful! Thank you so much.”
Rowan smiled faintly and did not act humble about it. She had been traveling to Silvermoon Pack every other day recently. It was tiring work.
But she enjoyed it.
Knowing the Conlays still had surviving descendants filled her with joy. She was willing to exhaust herself for that.
However, her brows drew together slightly as she spoke again. “Still, as I mentioned before, correcting his leg means the bone must be broken and set again.”
Laila felt her chest tighten. “I understand. It will hurt.”
She looked toward Raymond almost instinctively.
Raymond sat quietly on the bed, listening. When he noticed Laila looking at him, he curved his eyes gently as if telling her he was not afraid.
Rowan said, “It will definitely be painful. I do have painkillers, but they won’t help much for rebreaking a bone.”
She paused before continuing. “There is another method. We can use frost wolfbane to temporarily numb the nerves in his leg.”
Laila stiffened. Frost wolfbane was a rare anesthetic poison produced by the salivary glands of wolves from the polar ice fields. In small quantities it could block pain for a short time. But…
“You didn’t mention this before. Is there danger involved?” she asked.
Rowan nodded. “The dosage must be controlled with extreme accuracy. It must be exact. If the amount is too high and the nerves stay suppressed too long, then even if the bone heals perfectly, he might still limp when he walks.”
Laila fell silent.

Chapter 196 For Laila
She was not a healer, but if even Rowan admitted the method carried risk, then the danger had to be real.
The whole purpose of repairing his leg was to let him walk normally. If the bone healed but he still limped, then the treatment would have been meaningless.
Should he endure the pain of the break, or rely on frost wolfbane to dull it?
After thinking briefly, she asked, “What do you suggest?”
Rowan considered for a moment and then looked toward Raymond. “What do you think?”
Raymond smiled and lowered his head to write. Since returning, he always carried paper and a pencil to communicate.
He wrote, “I know a broken leg hurts. When they broke my leg before, I thought the pain would kill me.”
“So you want to use frost wolfbane to reduce the pain?” Laila asked.
Raymond shook his head and continued writing.
“But if there is a chance I might limp, then no.
“Don’t worry. I can bear the pain.”
Seeing his answer, Rowan could not help praising him. “Good! That is the blood of the Conlays!”
The decision was made.
That evening, Laila went to Snowpeak Pack to inform Samson and the others.
When they heard Raymond chose to endure the pain, they felt both proud and heartbroken.
They were proud of him, but they also knew that kind of pain was unbearable for most people, especially a seven year old child. How could he possibly withstand it?
On the day of the procedure, Samson arrived with his mother.
They also brought the best healing potions they could find.
They knew Rowan’s abilities were exceptional and that her own medicines were probably superior. Still, it was better to prepare everything just in case.
Rowan examined the medicines they brought and nodded. “These will be useful. After the treatment, applying them can help the bone recover faster.”
Samson let out a breath of relief. “Good. As long as they help him heal quickly.”
Rowan nodded again, and the group walked together toward Raymond’s room.
Raymond was already prepared.

Chapter 196 For Laila
He had decided firmly not to take any risks. No frost wolfbane.
Because he needed to recover completely.
