Third–person POV:
During those two years, he had been beaten often.
Pain had long since become something ordinary in his life.

When he saw that everyone had arrived and that worry filled their eyes, Raymond instead gave them a steady, encouraging look.
Seeing that everyone felt their hearts ache even more. He was only seven years old–this should have been the age when a child was cherished and protected.
Just as Rowan was about to begin the treatment, Samuel arrived.
The Kohlers already knew he had saved Raymond’s life. They had planned to visit him later to thank him properly, but since they ran into him here, they immediately stepped forward to express their gratitude.
Samuel waved his hand and said with a smile, “It was just luck that I ran into him. There’s really no need to thank me. I came today because I want to stay with him during the treatment. Let’s not talk about anything else right now. The treatment comes first.”
The Kohlers had originally worried that when Raymond followed Laila to Frostwind Pack in the future, Samuel might gradually grow distant or even dislike him. But seeing how much Samuel cared about Raymond now, that worry faded.
Samuel said to Laila and the Kohlers, “I’ll stay inside with Raymond. You don’t need to stay here. This is between us, man to man—nothing you need to worry about.”
He turned to Raymond with a smile. “Raymond, isn’t that right?”
Raymond nodded firmly. He didn’t want Laila and Samson to stay either. If they were here, he would have to keep pretending to be brave and reassure them so they wouldn’t worry too much.
Having Samuel stay with him was better.
He was a soldier, a warrior, someone like Grandfather. He could give him strength.
He also wanted him to see that the Conlays‘ cubs were not cowards.
Laila naturally understood Samuel’s good intentions. Seeing that Raymond also agreed, she said, “Alright.”
She walked over and gently stroked Raymond’s head, saying softly, “We’ll be right outside. Raymond has to stay strong.
Raymond nodded. Then he raised his hand and traced large letters in the air: NO FEAR.
The letters were big, and everyone understood them. Their hearts ached, but they still smiled at him.
“Alright, let’s clear the room! Everyone, please step outside first,” Rowan said.

Everyone gave Raymond a reluctant look before slowly leaving the room.
Rowan handed him the painkiller potion, and Raymond gulped it down.
Samuel sat beside the bed and held Raymond’s hand. “I’m here. There’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Raymond’s hand still trembled slightly.
He was afraid.
Rowan joked, “Since Your Highness is here, then how about I let you handle the broken bones?”
Samuel was a battle–hardened warrior. Naturally, he knew how to use precise force to snap a bone that had healed crooked. For him, it hardly took any effort.
He nodded and agreed.
Lowering his head, his fingers gently felt along Raymond’s leg bone, searching for the spot where it had grown crooked. Raymond’s whole body tightened like a drawn bowstring.
Noticing this, Samuel looked up at him and suddenly smiled. “I have a secret I want to tell you. You can’t tell anyone else. It’s about Laila.”
Raymond immediately looked at him with curiosity. A secret about Aunt Laila?
Samuel smiled and continued, “This happened several years ago. Moonlight Academy holds a competition every year in which seniors compete against juniors.”
Raymond’s eyes lit up, and even the tension in his leg eased a little.
“There was a senior student who liked to bully the younger ones. Whenever he won, he stepped on their faces and said all kinds of nasty things. That day, your aunt happened to catch him in the act.
“Without saying a word, she jumped straight onto the platform and pointed at the guy’s nose, saying she wanted to challenge him. The whole crowd was stunned. That was your Aunt Laila’s first year in the academy. She had only been at the academy for a few months, and she wasn’t even as tall as his shoulder.
“That senior laughed at her and said she didn’t know her place. Guess what she did?”
Raymond shook his head hard.
Samuel said softly, “She didn’t say anything. She just charged straight at him, moving as fast as a wolf cub on its first hunt. She wasn’t afraid of losing or pain. Once she latched on, she didn’t let go. In the end, she pinned that senior to the ground, and his face turned pale as a sheet.”
