Laila looked completely unconcerned. “Then what does that make Victoria now? I heard she’s going to be the primary Luna of Ironclaw Pack, and you’re just the second.”

“I won’t let that happen!” Maris snapped. “I’m Holt’s Luna! When he married me, he promised me. I will never let Victoria become the primary Luna!”

“Holt’s promises? They’re as cheap as words tossed to the wind.”

Laila let out a cold laugh. “And besides, you shouldn’t be saying these things to me. You should go find that husband of yours who keeps talking about ‘forever.‘ Cry to him. Go scratch that woman’s face. What I don’t understand is why you came to see me. Why do you still dare to show up in front of me? Maris, you have no idea how much I hate you.”

Maris’s face turned deathly pale. “No. That was because he had a sense of responsibility. He couldn’t bear to turn you into a pitiful rogue. As long as I can be with him, I don’t care if I’m the only Luna or not.”
